/ This was a hard poll, but no surprise that $ROKU finished first. $TTD and $NFLX are stock market darlings for good reason though and I believe $MGNI is an undervalued gem. Let's compare these companies across a variety of metrics using @ycharts to see how they stack up.
/ Since $ROKU went public in late 2017, all of these companies have handily beaten the market. $ROKU's and $TTD's returns have been insane. $NFLX has almost tripled and yet is in third place over this time!
/ There's good reason for that price appreciation too. Over that time, $NFLX, $ROKU, and $TTD have shown incredible revenue growth, probably the very first metric I look at. Only $MGNI's revenue has retreated.
/ Of course, if you're an investor in one of these companies, the concerning thing is that despite that revenue growth, only $TTD is free cash flow positive.
/ The difference in valuations between these companies is also stunning. Rewarded for its profitability, $TTD commands a P/S ratio of 31, while $MGNI's is less than 3.
/ By P/E ratio, only $NFLX and $TTD register with, uh, some steep multiples.
/ As important as growth and valuations are margins. $TTD's margins are worthy of a software company, but $MGNI's are also high, making me think there's potential there.
/ By operating margin, $NFLX and $TTD are positive, and due to its lack of exposure $NFLX's op margin is the only that didn't take a hit this year.
/ As always, this is a valuable first look at these companies, but much more work would have to be done before making an investment decision. But the performance and growth of many of these companies make me believe they might all be worth a closer look.
