Jupiter Saturn conjunctions were the most important in a hierarchy of world astrology techniques

The one in 1226 CE which is the most similar to 2020’s was used to predict the end of the Abbasid Caliphate

“Mind when the two greater stars approach for it is a sign of the end”
All of world history was divided into cycles of conjunctions of varying degrees of importance.

This was then combined with other methods like the lord of the year, ingress, Saturn Mars conjunctions, eclipses, lunar movements, comets etc
Unlike the way some interpret aspects or transits, the conjunctions were used for periods of time, particularly when they shifted from one element to another; they mark the end and beginning of new eras

Politically it meant the end of the dawla
the dawla was a dynasty or state sorta but more specifically referred to the ruling hegemony of the age.

The end of the Abbasids gave way to the Turco-Mongol dynasties (in the age of Air for 200 ish years)
Therefore the shift from one triplicity to another marked the end of one hegemony and the beginning of another

In politics a ruler with a good astrologer could use these astral omens to legitimize their overthrow of rival dynasty
my favorite prophecy from the time, falsely linked to Ibn Sina, warned the caliph: “the destroyer rises...beware the mongols!”

The destroyer was a title of Mars, likely indicating Mars was rising and also the lord of the year in the horoscope
I could go on and on, conjunctions in world and political astrology are a research focus of mine and I’ve got an article coming out next year on it

It’s also probably one of the lesser understood techniques in more recent years, but thoroughly fascinating!
