0/ I don’t know who Chef Nomi is and frankly I don’t really care to know. But it is one thing to criticize his actions and another to speculate on his identity and doxx someone you think fits his profile without concrete evidence.
1/ Whoever started this, you fucking crossed the line. If you cannot prove Sorawit is Chef Nomi, you better damn well make him a public apology. This is a real person we are talking about. Someone with friends and family and a career.
2/ What gives you the damn right to soil his reputation like this? Sorawit reacted rather graciously despite the abuse. If it was me, I would have rained hellfire on you by now.
3/ Here’s why I don’t buy into the conspiracy that Sorawit is Chef Nomi.
4/ First, I don’t think people understand how much work it involves to coordinate something like Sushiswap. The amount of work needed to pull it off is not something a full time CTO role at an aggressive startup can muster.
5/ Second, we have all established that Nomi Chef sold out for the money. If Sorawit was him, why would he dump $SUSHI and incur the wrath of the community? It would be much easier for him to announce an oracle integration with Band.
6/ Imagine a headline that goes “Band secures $1.5B of TVL”. That would easily have sent the price of $BAND up 2-3x, creating more wealth for him and he would still retain his $SUSHI and goodwill.
7/ To believe that Sorawit is Nomi Chef, you have to believe that this guy is both superhuman but is also somehow exceedingly dumb at the same time. If the latter was true, I don’t think he could have launched Sushiswap so successfully and built the following that he did.
8/ You could argue that maybe it is the Band team behind it. Again, it doesn’t make sense. Have you seen how many partnerships Band has announced in the past few weeks?
9/ On the financial motivation, again the team argument falls apart here as each of them would benefit more financially from an integration announcement vs splitting the proceeds of the $SUSHI sale.
10/ Also the Band team has some of the strongest partners and investors on their side and they would have to be very stupid to throw all of that away for that amount of money.
11/ I can understand why the $LINK marines wanted to believe this FUD so badly and they have been spreading it across social media channels like the plague. This is typical toxic frog poison that I have become used to seeing. It is disgusting tbh.
12/ The $LINK marines always claim the moral high ground that people use lies and misinformation against them. They have no qualms about doing the same to others.
13/ Their recent actions smack of desperation and insecurity. They talk about their superior tech all the time. I would like to see them use their “tech” to beat the competition rather than resort to using misinformation to discredit their competitors.
14/ So how did Band and Sorawit get embroiled in this? Based on what I know, the Sushi team reached out to them about an integration knowing that they were keen to have $BAND included. In turn, the Band team agreed to help them to audit their code.
15/ That is why Sorawit was supportive of the Sushi project and why there were other associations which have been discussed in detail. Am I 100% sure about this?No. But I am 99% sure.
16/ What I also know is decent people don’t doxx others and try to destroy their lives with a tiny shred of “evidence”.
17/ Anyway, the purpose of this message is to dispel the baseless conspiracy theory and clear Sorawit’s name. Equally, it is a call for people in the community to act with some decency especially if you don’t know the whole picture.
18/ This endless FUDing is toxic and detrimental to the community. We should all be focusing our energies on moving the space forward. I have told the team at Band to put this episode behind them and focus on building. Everyone should do the same.
