Symphogear's half action, half slice of life DNA makes for some interesting segues. Here, Chris tells Kirika she's being too easygoing about planning a birthday party, and Kirika remembers a time she was too easygoing and FIVE MEN DIED
Well, I didn't schedule half an hour of listening to Steven Universe songs and sobbing today, but I think I can make the time
Just thinkin' about Independent Together again, and how it reflects on Pearl's relationship with Rose, and how much it means that both Greg and Steven are singing it to her, and losing my shit again
This show reflects critically and thoughtfully on so many different kinds of relationships, so many different kinds of love. Nothing is ever solved by one song or one episode - but over time, the ways they hurt, care for, and learn to believe in each other are clear to see
I've powered on through the end of Steven Universe, also caught the movie, and am now a few episodes into Future. I don't know how it's possible, but it feels like this show is still getting better all the time
The movie was phenomenal. A terrific set of songs, beautiful art design, and an incredibly satisfying celebration of how far all these characters have come
Plus, how am I not supposed to love a retro rubber hose-limbed antagonist, who's so depressed that her running mascara has actually become part of her design?
I've been told this show is an "ultraviolent horror/slice of life show," and I'm beginning to understand how. At the intersection of slice of life and horror, you often find surreal, slapstick violence
I think I'm going to like this world's magic. Messy, fantastical, and weird - not the kind of magic that can be tamed or understood #dorohedoro
Team Rocket can't even finish their intro before getting torched by Litten, and then Ash ignores them entirely. No respect
I love this. As Ash receives Stoutland's diagnosis, the door slides shut, meaning we can't hear what they're saying - a trick that emotionally aligns us with Litten, who must also try to read their faces to understand what's happening
