On Labor Day, keep in mind that frontline workers have put their health at risk to keep grocery stores stocked, families healthy, and neighborhoods cared for. They're essential workers. We need to start treating them that way.
I met with frontline workers who have worked in Texas' meat packing plants and grocery stores. It's not just their own lives and health they're worried about — they're worried about catching COVID-19 and then transmitting it to their loved ones. Whole families are at risk. Unfortunately, we have leaders who put corporate donors over regular people. John Cornyn has fought his entire career to undermine worker protections. This year, he left town for a month without securing critical relief for Texas workers who have lost their jobs due to COVID-19.
Even worse, #CorporateCornyn STALLED COVID-19 relief talks by trying to wedge in a “liability shield” — which would protect the profits of corporations whose negligence causes frontline workers to catch COVID-19.
I've served in our military, waited tables, and worked in health care. I know what it means to put in a hard day's work. We need leaders who understand the struggle of working families, and who will fight like hell to protect them. MJForTexas.com
