the DOOM review processed on youtube quite quickly (less than one hour!) so perhaps Our New Editor knows his codecs better than i do. at any rate, we got a copyright claim for one of the "royalty free" beethoven tracks i used. i'm gonna try to fix it and reupload
if i don't do this, unfortunately, some weirdos are going to light the video up like an advertisement christmas tree, which means i have to occasionally see politicians in my video player when i go to look at comments, which is one flavor away from a horror neapolitan
update: final export is processing. gonna record a podcast and come back. if 1080p60 is ready, we'll premiere at 7pm eastern!
so hang on a bit . . .
in case anyone's wondering, on the internet in my apartment, this 18GB file uploaded in *forty-six SECONDS*
i don't even get it . . . anyway, that owns. now it's youtube's turn to own
pretty good thumbnail this time
processing complete! premiere at 7pm!!
ahhh . . . ahhhhhh wait . . . youtube legit actually blocked the video this time. this time, for a different song. this is unbelievable. they literally say the video is "blocked in some countries," now, and i don't know why!!
apparently "united states" and "united kingdom" are two of the "some" countries it's blocked in. oops . . . uhhh let me see what i can do
well, we took the most bizarre route to fixing this issue. we are uploading a Hopefully Completely Final Version right now. please hang on for a bit
this has been incredibly frustrating. last night, before i went to bed, the video had processed all the way through to 1080p60fps playback. it was scheduled to premiere. then at 10am youtube hit me with this copyright thing and i've been dealing with it for literally twelve hours
as you will see when the actual video launches, i dealt with a lot of STUFF during the production process of this thing!! man!! to have this weird useless bureaucracy metaphor pop up right here at the end is a real let-down
i would LOVE to premiere the video tomorrow. however, i also want to be in the chat The Whole Time. unfortunately i have to be on an airplane tomorrow so i can film the NEXT video on saturday. oh well!!! like this tweet if you'd watch it sunday afternoon!!!!!!!!!!
in other words, i've given up on premiering tonight. i'm not confident enough that youtube won't block it again. plus, it's three hours and 27 minutes long, for heck's sake. even if it DOES process and get cleared we're looking at a 4am eastern end time . . . :-(
don't you just hate it when bureaucracy makes you look like a liar!!!!!
update: youtube hasn't processed the video yet. nor have they stricken it. it's 3am so i'm going to bed. oh wait no i'm not. i'm going to the airport. lordy
update: i am in indianapolis, indiana, fixin to drive up to south bend. the video has processed with no copyright claims. we're clear for sunday!!! stand by for a timeslot announcement (probably 11am eastern)

i am currently writing a patreon post about this that is much longer and makes much less sense, so if you want to see that you can pay for it lmao
as i said in the fine print abovr, i don't understand how youtube processing works. this is a huge 4K60fps video. i have no idea what is taking so long. i haven't slept in four days. i am going to bed. i will launch the video whenever youtube is ready. and i'll let you know! oops
big news: i have decided that the second i click "public" on this video sunday morning, i am taking two full weeks off. i will do absolutely nothing. i ain't even gonna play any video games. don't even email me. well, back to work
btw i make this distinction right now, twelve hours into the friday of a 100-hour work week, because You All Out There can't stop calling me "lazy" in your emails, so i might as well Go For It lmao
really: a guy flat out told me "Just upload the video. You have literally the easiest job in the world." i realize that anyone who actually watches my videos would not even say something like that as a "joke", so i realize that guy was perfectly serious. lord
i made a massive patreon post about this, so here's the tiny twitter version: the cyberpunk video is REAL GOOD (and huge). it's gonna take another month. it's the best thing i've ever made, so please wait a little longer so i can finesse it! expect it week one of august.
additional contributions to the delay: the cyberpunk video too interconnectedly references the next six videos that i needed to also research and write outlines for the next six scripts while making this one. i played 110 video games total for this review.
Season Two of action button features Big Changes: finalized branding, a fancy website, new hires, and an extreme re-focusing of tone, mission statement, and style. i dare not spoil what i mean; for now let's leave it at: i'm gonna cut down on bad jokes (and cut UP on good ones).
i'm hearing rumors that nintendo is making a "nintendo switch pro" that will run breath of the wild in 60fps. this could be big
the above tweet is a joke. this one is not: my Inside Source at nintendo tells me that the nintendo switch OLED model does in fact run super mario odyssey at 60fps. very intriguing
i'm sorry: the above tweet was also a joke. super mario odyssey has been 60fps since day one both docked and handheld
BIG NEWS: after a year and a half of being My Beast Friend, as of this week "Little" Bibbithy "Bibby" D'Babbis Babbis has started approaching my desk and explicitly asking to be lifted into my lap, where he stands on all fours staring at the front door (his favorite stare-target)
i always wanted a dog that would sit in my lap by choice, though not a big one--not the kind of dog who feels more like a bad roommate when they in your lap. i mean like a small one who just kind of chills there. if only there was a word for that. oh well! back to work
getting bibby to do this has been a YEAR-long process of picking him up and putting him in my lap (aka "lap jail") when he barks too many times, because he can't get down from the chair by himself and it genuinely calms him down. well, now he stands up and asks! NOW back to work
it's JULY 4TH aka "America Day"! why not celebrate with my sousaful review of METAL WOLF CHAOS? this is one of the best videos i have yet made. i dare say no other review of METAL WOLF CHAOS is mathematically possible. thanks, @devolverdigital
don't YOU want to watch the review that got HUNDREDS of comments like THIS less than an HOUR after it was posted, from people who clicked on a twenty-minute video about METAL WOLF CHAOS and somehow made it through at least fifteen minutes???
some Production Notes on this video:
1. i wrote this script in 40 minutes--that's only twice as long as it took me to read it into a microphone! wow i type fast
2. this video took exactly one work day to write / produce / edit
