Before I start, this is a compilation of leaks, story details, and every remnant I could find that adds credence to any rumors. The restโ€™s up to our imagination.
Thereโ€™s a lot of misconception that Famuyiwaโ€™s film was going to be based or inspired by Flashpoint which isnโ€™t true. Cyborg was definitely in the film (more on that) but the film was purely a Flash standalone.

The 2021 version will definitely be based off of Flashpoint.
The script was actually based off a treatment by Phil Lord and Chris Miller (21 Jump Street, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse). They were approaching it very different from the average superhero movies and the TV show.

1/4
Their biggest contribution was likely the inclusion of Ray Fisher's Cyborg. There's a misconception that Famuyiwa brought him on based on their rumored plotline. That's not true.

2/4
They were also going to direct but left in favor of Solo. Ray Fisher talked about meeting them years ago... around 2015-ish.

3/4
Phil Lord ultimately praised Rick and expressed their excitement about him being on. And also said have worked with them before.

Iโ€™m sure they would have gotten a โ€œstory by โ€œ credit like the trades were saying at that time.

4/4
Before now we get to the REALLY good stuff, itโ€™s clear this film was farther along with concept art being done with Jay Oliva compelling work with Rick directly through the storyboarding process.
Rick's biggest contributions was the casting of Kiersey Clemons's Iris West and Billy Crudup's Henry Allen which were included in Snyder's JL will we see this year.

This was the next scheduled DC film after Justice League (2017).
Rick Famuyiwa visited the London filming of Justice League in 2016, likely overseeing Flash's scenes and creative direction for his film.
Now onto the VERY juicy stuff.

The villains were going to be none other than Captain Cold and Golden Glider.

1/2.
There were reports that there would be multiple villains in the film possibly, potentially even rogues. But it seems as if these two were the main villains.

I believe Cyborg's appearance would potentially be later in the film to help Barry take them down.
Before I get to the really juicy stuff, I want to point out that the Dope (2015) costume designer, Patrick Milani was hired and working on it.

I wouldn't be surprised if that piece of the costume design for Iris in Zack Snyder's Justice League was a Milani input.
The film was rumored to *potentially* revolve around police brutality within the police department. It seems like it has a place in a movie about a super hero whose alternate identity is in the forensic field. It's a rumor.

But I have evidence to prove its validity.

1/4
Mark Hughes let it be known that the film was going to involve "racial and social themes" with Ray Fisher's Cyborg amongst other elements.

2/4
When Rick Famuyiwa left in October of 2016, his comments spoke volumes.

(He even mentioned Jon Berg and Geoff Johns but I will get to one of those two later).

3/4
When the Black Panther numbers came out in 2018, he seemingly threw shade to WB or certain executives.

Especially since Black Panther was praised for its themes and was originally going to release a few weeks after Black Panther.

4/4
Personally, I think this would have been a unique direction. It lines up with Barry Allen in linking with Henry Allen that the police arenโ€™t always right. And deepens Flashโ€™s relationship with Central City by inheriting trust within the city by taking down the โ€œgood guysโ€ and 1/2
warranting why it would be worth building a museum for someone.

I also think the casting of a black Iris wouldnโ€™t have been for nothing. It would have been interesting see her perspectives on police clash with Barry. Perhaps her family had some history and would create a dynamic
we arenโ€™t accustomed to seeing on superhero film.

Famuyiwa is very outspoken about these issues and if he did what he wanted to do, I think it would have aged like fine wine and probably rivaled Black Panther from a different racial perspective.

2/2
Geoff Johns spoke directly about pushing his perspectives and authority on creatives, making it clear that Flash was one of those said casualties.
Kiersey Clemons expressed her disappointment on Famuyiwa walking.
Ray Fisher played coy, also wished Rick had gotten to do his Flash.
He was replaced by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein (The Vacation, Spider-Man: Homecoming) at that time, who... incidentally collided with Ezra Miller, who was way more interested in a much more โ€œdarkerโ€ tone to Flash and brought on Grant Morrison.

Itโ€™s worth noting.
I can totally imagine Ezra Miller being a little apprehensive about what they wanted to do compared to Rick, given their night and day tonalities.

โ€” Itโ€™s *also* worth noting Ezra co-directed a short film in regards to police brutality so this avenue is important to him.
Ultimately, Rick never gotten a chance to do his Flash movie. It came from Snyderโ€™s DC universe he was building which was more realistic and heavily inspired by *OUR* world. I strongly feel like he could have done it today given WBโ€™s political work is praised (Joker, Watchmen).
We will definitely see remnants of Rick Famuyiwaโ€™s Flash in Zack Snyderโ€™s Justice League, available to stream in 2021.
