"Hello, Nevada," Trump says, nailing the pronunciation.

My work here is done.
"You know the governor of your state tried very hard to stop us from having this event tonight."

If you bet the over on 2 minutes until the first lie, you lost.

Again, this did not happen.
"Your governor tried to stop us," Trump says over and over again.

@GovSisolak did nothing to try to stop Trump. His campaign canceled the rallies, which violated state and WH guidelines on gatherings.

Reno airport said no-go, Vegas airport never contacted.

Pure fiction.
@GovSisolak Trump just said Sisolak is a "political hack" who called venues to get the rally canceled and controls "millions of ballots."

1. No evidence of any calls.
2. There are 1.7 million active voters in NV.

Trump is quite delusional tonight already.
Trump is saying Sisolak is trying to rig the election -- "your politically motivated governor...he's a guy that tried to silence us."

The election is being overseen by the secretary of state, who is a Republican.
Follow @meganmesserly, as always, for more details.
@meganmesserly Trump is going after Clinton pretty strongly. He just might beat her.
This is giving stream of consciousness a bad name.
Trump says people say "we are tied in Nevada," which he says is not possible unless they rig the election, which he thinks may happen.

The last two public polls have shown him behind by 5 and 4 points.
"Your state is shutdown," Trump says of Nevada.

"Except for riots."

"If you want to go to church, you can't do it."

The state is not shut down.

Casinos are open. Businesses are open.

"Open your schools."

They are.
Trump just said in Nevada "you don't have to have an authorized signature on a ballot."

This is false.

It's not even close to true.

And there are many safeguards.
Says Dem operative in Nevada could have thousands of ballots and no authorization needed.

This, too, is false.

Folks, I have no idea how @ddale8
does this night in and night out.

And I type fast!
@ddale8 "Here in Nevada, they burned the City Hall in Reno..."

Small fire. City Hall not burned.

Trump also talks about Vegas cop shot during "violent demonstration."

The suspect actually was not part of the demonstration.
@ddale8 Oh no, Trump must be tired.

Just mispronounced "Nevada" twice in a row.

He also endorsed Adam Laxalt for governor.

That worked out well in 2018.
@ddale8 He name-checks CD4 hopeful Jim Marchant, said he saw a good poll.

I doubt that.

You know who isn't there and didn't get name-checked: @AmodeiForNevada, the congressman who reps that area. Why? He had the temerity to not be a complete Trump echo. Heresy these days in GOP.
@ddale8 @AmodeiForNevada The windmills are killing all our bald eagles.

That is so sad.

Seems quixotic to point out how dumb this is.
@ddale8 @AmodeiForNevada "Trump is leading Biden with the Hispanic voters."

Was that an OAN poll again?

No. No he is not.

He's losing by more than 2-to-1 in the NYT/Siena poll for NV.
@ddale8 @AmodeiForNevada "Jose, how you doin? Juan, how you doin?"

Trump simulates talking to all those Hispanic border patrol agents.

So, yeah, maybe he is leading with the Hispanics.
@ddale8 @AmodeiForNevada "I did more in 47 months as president than Biden did in 47 years."

Good line, Mr. President.

Now -- in best Marge Gunderson voice: "I have a bit of a problem with your math."
@ddale8 @AmodeiForNevada The two sweetest words I have heard tonight: "to conclude"
@ddale8 @AmodeiForNevada Trump now reading some Prompter stuff about Nevada history and how it became a "shining oasis."

I am verklempt.

Thank you, Mr. President.
@ddale8 @AmodeiForNevada A little under two hours and he's done.

I hope you will understand if we restrict our fact-checks to the NV lies -- double digits. The rest were the standard ones from his stump speech.

We will have a story up soon.

Follow @TheNVIndy.

It's been stuck in my craw for a few days, so I want to talk about this notion that CNN's moderators in some way are "anti-Trump," which caused @kasie to cut off a Trump spox and set off the right-wing outrage machine. This is important, so let's be clear on a few things:
1/5
@jaketapper and @DanaBashCNN are seasoned pros and great choices to moderate this debate.

"Anti-Trump" is used by Trump supporters to describe journalists who have called out Trump's serial lying. That doesn't mean they are against Trump; it means they are doing their jobs.

2/5
Covering politics in this fraught era is not easy, and it's especially difficult when the chosen technique is to slime people for political advantage. Tapper and Bash are tough -- on both sides. But there is no moral equivalency between what Trump does and Biden's age, etc.

A Reno TV station got an "interview" with Trump. It was incredible -- or not?

Permit me a brief thread about what he said, unchallenged:2news.com/news/only-on-2…
Trump thinks Nevada is special and he will win by more than 13.

Reality: He has lost NV twice, and almost no chance he wins by double digits. Image
On Yucca Mountain: Trump claimed he is "strongly against it."

This is a lie.

Trump repeatedly put Yucca in his budget! He suddenly came out against it as an election year epiphany! And: "That area is thriving." WHAT?

This is all jabberwocky from him. Image

I know this could end up being a mistake, but I feel compelled to weigh in on the McDaniel/NBC kerfuffle:
1. Full disclosure: I am an MSNBC contributor and have a lot of fondness for a lot of people over there.
2. Yes, the network has some contributors I wouldn't have hired..
1/4
...and that provides easy fodder for Republicans and I don't really blame them for mocking the pearl-clutching on the Left. I wish MSNBC had more thoughtful conservatives. But. But, and I can't stress this enough, this hire is different, and I'll tell you why:
2/4
3. No one -- including McDaniel -- who lied about 2020 and enabled Trump's attempted coup should be welcomed back into polite society, unless they sincerely and profusely apologize. Period. The damage has been too pervasive, too insidious. This should be a litmus test.

Kicking off the Trump rally in vegas: One of the worst conspiracy theorists: Wayne Allyn Root, who once said Barack Obama was a foreign exchange student and said the vegas mass shooting was done by ISIS.

Immediately calls 2020 election "rigged."

WAR, what is he good for?
This is the guy speaking first at the Trump rally who just said "they rigged and stole the election from Donald J. Trump." He was ousted from the Las Vegas Review-Journal as a featured columnist after hawking phony COVID cures. Image
Now state GOP Chair and indicted fake elector @McDonaldNV is up there. Like Root, he is screaming into the mic for some reason before introducing Trump.

This an only-in-Nevada story:
Cryptocreep conspiracy theorist and election denier tries to overturn unanimously passed new law to protect election workers and uses unhinged Republican national committeewoman, who once said Black AG should be "hanging from a crane," to file it.
News of this lawsuit first appeared on a GOP bulletin board/dark money site masquerading as a real news site and one that has posted stuff favoring the cryptocreep conspiracist. For some reason, this site's "story" did not point out that he was one of the plaintiffs.

Nevada!
Here's our great investigative piece, in partnership with two other great news outlets, on the guy behind this lawsuit who also claimed his pal Joey Gilbert won the GOP gov primary he lost in a landslide. He has harassed electeds and staffers.

I've seen a lot of smart people commenting on whether CNN should let Trump be on tonight, and I see where many of the dissenters are coming from, based on history. But they're wrong. I interviewed people live for many years, and I know you have been dying for my opinion. So:
1/
Don't talk to me about "normalizing" Trump or "giving him a platform." He is the GOP frontrunner for president. Of course CNN should put him on. Yes, there are dangers of live TV -- he will try to filibuster -- but there are also benefits -- he can't complain he was edited.
2/
The key here -- and I know this is risible to many -- is that as a news org, you have to have faith in your anchor to be prepared, to know facts better than Trump and -- this is critical -- interrupt him when necessary -- firmly, calmly. Remind the audience when he is lying.
