A thought off what Rabbi @RutiRegan just taught:

Jews, abusers may be trying to push their victims to forgive especially in this season. Do not enable this if you see it, do not feel pressured into the BS if you're receiving it.

Real repentance work/tshuvah centers the victim.
An abuser who is truly penitent will

a) consider whether or not it would harm the victim for them to even reach out to try to make amends & maybe not do that

c) Back WAY the hell off at the first whiff of "unwelcome."

Forgiveness is

a) not EVER obligatory for abuse. (I have sources, it's late, I'll bring later)

b) Not relevant to whether the abuser has done tshuvah. It's never earned or owed, doesn't hinder their tshuvah. They should keep their eyes on their own blue book.
and c) Absolutely none of the business of random bystanders, whose concern should, again, be in SUPPORTING AND CENTERING THE NEEDS OF THE VICTIM and not participating in coercion or gaslighting. Even if they think the abuser is a "really good guy" or whatever.

No Orthodox Jew? Come and learn, Newt. 1/x

Talmud Yevamot 69b

If she is found pregnant, until the fortieth day it is mere fluid.
Talmud Gittin 23b

What is the reason for Rabbi Yehuda HaNasi’s position [in the above conversation]? He holds that a fetus is considered as its mother’s thigh [that is, as part of its mother’s body].
Mishnah Oholot 7:6
If a woman is having trouble giving birth, they cut up the child in her womb ... because her life comes before the life of [the child]. But if the greater part has come out, one may not touch it, for one may not set aside one person's life for that of another.

Call and say: Hi, my name is [first, last name] and I live in [city, state]. I’m extremely concerned about the reports of medical neglect, including forced hysterectomies of immigrant women, at the Irwin Detention Center in Georgia. +
The recent reports of people in detention being sterilized without consent or knowledge, blatant disregard for safety during a pandemic, and inadequate COVID-19 precautions, reinforces the concern that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) cannot be trusted +

Challah baked yesterday.
Kugel and veg are done.
Apple sauce on the stove.
Yes, I make my mother’s best friend’s brisket recipe using seitan, and it is fantastic, and it is in the oven.
Soup of actual chicken to be made later.
Everybody keeps asking for the seitan brisket recipe! Lol take your favorite brisket recipe and use seitan instead.

But OK, here's Janet's brisket recipe, adapted by me 20 years ago. Base recipe is from 1970's/80's Jewish suburbia so of course includes a bunch of name brands.
1 to 1 1/2 lbs seitan
1 pkg onion soup mix sprinkled
Sliced onion, carrots, mushroom, potato
1 c. red wine
1 c. water
5 tb ketchup
5 t A-1 sauce

Cook @ 325 F until the potatoes & onions are ready. I usually start covered, then remove foil at some point to let the sauce thicken.

Hi! The antisemitic dual loyalty trope (ie Jews can't be loyal to [where they live] because they are secretly more loyal to each other than [here]) goes back to the Middle Ages, and is related to the whole globalist/cosmopolitan thing.

The country of US Jews is the US.
Also white nationalists are super into the idea that the real country of all American Jews is Israel because they would like us all to go away and be there, and not here.
Once more with feeling yadda yadda yadda

Ok quick thread 1/x

1) There isn’t one Jewish position, there are a bunch, from different eras and philosophical orientations.
2) Gehennom, one of them, often translated as “hell” or “purgatory” has a fascinating history that lays bare the way it functions as a metaphoric/mythic field. https://t.co/1jew42RcCT
3) There are streams of the tradition that talk about reincarnation, streams that talk about the literal resurrection of the dead when the Messiah comes, streams that talk about The World To Come (oft fashioned as a gigantic, hopping beit midrash/hall of Torah study.)

Gender reveal parties have:

Caused several wildfires

Killed at least one person

Reinforced for countless people the harmful idea that the stuff between a baby’s legs determines their gender identity and expression immutably and forever

Maybe...just.. stop?
Tho as long as they exist I’ll enjoy the occasional trolling of this genre. But it would be better if they just stopped. dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-… Pregnant person showing off...Pregnant person with balloo...
Your kid will reveal their gender to you in due time. And it might be an ever-evolving process. It’s fine. Wonderful, even. I promise. Just love the kid and everything else falls into place.
