Christians and theists generally bring up "personal experience" with God as a defence.

A thread (a short one hopefully)
But personal experiences aren't infallible because our senses aren't always 100% reliable. And even when they are they sometimes fail to capture the world around us.
So lemme give an example of a time humanity depended on personal experience and we were wrong and can still be wrong;
For a long time humans thought the earth was flat because of their personal experience. After all even today if we were to forego or suspend all of our acquired knowledge for a second we would all think the earth is flat because we SEE no evidence of a round earth in our day to…
Day lives. If we never learnt in school that the earth is round, how many of us using our personal experience would think the earth was round? We wouldn't. Because we'd be working based on our personal experience of the world and we'd never think we were wrong.
So your personal experience isn't infallible. Subjective? Yes. But not infallible because you could very well be wrong. And once you realise you could be wrong and are willing to put your personal experiences under scrutiny then you're one step closer to the truth whatever it is.
So put yourself under the microscope today and scrutinise your beliefs real good. After all if you're right you'd have nothing to loose and if you're wrong then you wouldn't have to be wrong anymore.

Have a happy Sunday. 🙂
