i think a fundamental protestant prior assumption is that "scripture provides its own context", or "you always interpret scripture by scripture"

in many cases it absolutely does not, and reading it simply "as is" can be entirely misleading, this is most evident in the prophets
i think this is also why the prophets are so rarely quoted well in prot sermons, they are all given the sort of one-size-fits-all "the bible is a love letter from God" frame, stuff like Jeremiah 29 is reduced to a mere promise that things will be well
The gospel writers also did not follow neat hermeneutical rules, lifting passages from the prophets entirely out of their original context and applying interpretations totally outside the scriptural frame
there are also many prophetic passages which speak of things that cannot be merely considered to be fulfilled in the eschaton or the "new earth", Isaiah is filled with promises and other content relevant to the Church alone
part of what drove me away from protestantism was not the inability to create internal validity

but that the internal validity was always reliant on staying in the sandbox, creating an intellectual barrier with no real impact on the world, theological castles in the sky
(though the internal validity was entirely abstract and illusory, and depended on many priors with no foundation)
the progression of protestantism and the failure to recreate a functioning, successful, acceptable magisterium also doomed it to the present decay of the mainlines and rise of one-generation nondenoms
i think if protestantism was true I would have expected an extremely early, concrete canon with explicit statements that "anyone can start a Church anywhere, with or without approval of bishops," but the history is so much different than this

"The globalized elites want to create a new world, a new culture, new men, a new ethics. The only things they cannot make are a new sun, a new moon, new mountains, new air, a new world. Rupture is the driving force of their political project.
"They no longer want to refer to the past. People who continue to identify with the values of the old world have to disappear, whether they like it or not. For the proponents of the new world, those subhumans belong to an inferior race.
"It is necessary to exclude them and to eliminate them. This desire to break with the past is tragically adolescent. A wise man is aware and proud of being an heir."

"collapse of the republic because we overturned roe v wade"
time for some realism: if you overturn roe v wade, the issue is kicked back to the states

in many states, it would be banned
in many others, it would be virtually unrestricted

given administrative successes in limiting abortions, day to day life would not change much
you would reduce abortions significantly over time, but not that much, since NY and CA would definitely not criminalize it. Certain aspects of public services would need quite a bit more resources. That's all fine. let the blue states have moloch worship, it won't be with us

saw a quotation unironically linking ratzinger's warning of the Church's flirtations with wielding temporal power (cf. Christ's temptation to worship Satan and gain power over kingdoms) as taking down the Integralists, find this extremely amusing
the anti-integralist stance reminds me of fedora atheists who tried to say "ah, yes, but my atheism isn't a positive statement, but merely a negation of belief in God, so it isn't a positive religious claim...I am very intelligent"
