It's Trump time in Henderson, NV, a suburb of Las Vegas.

"They are playing around with the ballots, your governor," Trump says, repeating the lie from last night.
"You have a governor right now who is a political hack."

The state is not shut down.
"Open up your state. You gotta open up your state. It's all political."

1. Not shut down. He was in a casino today so he knows that.
2. State is following the WH guidelines, which say by the metrics in Clark County, no public gatherings of more than 10 people. (State at 25.)
Trump says that Dan Rodimer (he mispronounces his name twice) and Jim Marchant (gets his right) beat really tough opponents to be congressional nominees.

1. They did not.
2. They are second-tier candidates at best, both big underdogs.
Trump just introed Dana White and some UFC fighters. They are among the headliners for a fundraiser for Trump today:

As I mentioned, one was called "the athletic embodiment of Trump's politics." He's UFC villain Colby Covington.
Trump touts ridiculous poll showing he is up with Hispanics. No credible poll shows that, although some Dems fear Joe Biden may not win Hispanics by a big enough margin.

By the way, we have a poll of Nevada Hispanics in the presidential race coming tomorrow.

I know this could end up being a mistake, but I feel compelled to weigh in on the McDaniel/NBC kerfuffle:
1. Full disclosure: I am an MSNBC contributor and have a lot of fondness for a lot of people over there.

3. No one -- including McDaniel -- who lied about 2020 and enabled Trump's attempted coup should be welcomed back into polite society, unless they sincerely and profusely apologize. Period. The damage has been too pervasive, too insidious. This should be a litmus test.

Immediately calls 2020 election "rigged."

This is the guy speaking first at the Trump rally who just said "they rigged and stole the election from Donald J. Trump." He was ousted from the Las Vegas Review-Journal as a featured columnist after hawking phony COVID cures. Image
Now state GOP Chair and indicted fake elector @McDonaldNV is up there. Like Root, he is screaming into the mic for some reason before introducing Trump.

This an only-in-Nevada story:
Cryptocreep conspiracy theorist and election denier tries to overturn unanimously passed new law to protect election workers and uses unhinged Republican national committeewoman, who once said Black AG should be "hanging from a crane," to file it.
News of this lawsuit first appeared on a GOP bulletin board/dark money site masquerading as a real news site and one that has posted stuff favoring the cryptocreep conspiracist. For some reason, this site's "story" did not point out that he was one of the plaintiffs.

Here's our great investigative piece, in partnership with two other great news outlets, on the guy behind this lawsuit who also claimed his pal Joey Gilbert won the GOP gov primary he lost in a landslide. He has harassed electeds and staffers.

I've seen a lot of smart people commenting on whether CNN should let Trump be on tonight, and I see where many of the dissenters are coming from, based on history. But they're wrong. I interviewed people live for many years, and I know you have been dying for my opinion. So:
1/
Don't talk to me about "normalizing" Trump or "giving him a platform." He is the GOP frontrunner for president. Of course CNN should put him on. Yes, there are dangers of live TV -- he will try to filibuster -- but there are also benefits -- he can't complain he was edited.
2/
The key here -- and I know this is risible to many -- is that as a news org, you have to have faith in your anchor to be prepared, to know facts better than Trump and -- this is critical -- interrupt him when necessary -- firmly, calmly. Remind the audience when he is lying.

Permit me a thread on something I have first-hand knowledge of. My child transitioned when he was 20. This is a good letter Chris links to. What is most disturbing to me about the treatment of trans issues even by the mainstream media is how facile it can be, lacking nuance.

I have come to find that while there is a lot of hateful rhetoric, covered without context too often, most people who are not exploiting trans folks for political purposes just don't know enough. Just as they didn't know enough, as the letter says, about gays at one time.

I understand concerns about kids transitioning too soon -- you need to be as sure as you can be as a parent -- but that does not mean no kids should transition. Often they know better than their parents! But the real point here is that polarizing words only do harm to people.

Good news for NV Dems: Republicans just elected worst-performing statewide GOP candidate to be on the RNC. She recently attacked the RNC for "collaborating with Democrats." She also said her Black opponent "should be hanging from a fucking crane."

Not. Sending. Their. Best.
The new governor, @GovLombardoNV, and other elected GOP leaders had endorsed another candidate, Pauline Lee, to be the national committeewoman. Instead, the state GOP chose a friend of the outgoing committeewoman, @votefiore, who is an election denier and much more (less).
@GovLombardoNV @VoteFiore Lesson for gov: Unless you can control the party's central committee, stay out of this nonsense. Only silver lining: No one except the active party members care who the RNC members are. FYI: Chattah said election-denying state GOP Chair @McDonaldNV handpicked her to run for AG.
