Keep these in mind when you start writing 👇
Checklist, rules, and recommendations 🧵
(Repost)
Decide on:
☑️ Subject: What are you writing about?
☑️ Target: Who are you writing for?
☑️ Goal: What do you want to achieve?
☑️ Tone: How do you want to come across?
Checklist:
✅ Do you have a short and precise headline?
✅ Do you have an enticing introduction?
✅ Do you fulfill a promise in the conclusion?
✅ Do you have a "tweetable" wrap-up?
✅ Is your language colorful and interesting?
✅ Do you apply pathos/ethos/logos?
Rules:
🔸 Avoid long words where a short one will do.
🔸 Avoid scientific words or jargon whenever possible.
🔸 Remove all "seems", "appears", "might", "could", etc.
🔸 Use active instead of passive, whenever possible.
🔸 If you can leave out a word, always do so.
Recommendations:
Write in "iterations".
Layout the structure first.
Add sections with subtitles.
Add content to each section.
Add illustrations at the end.
Sometimes it's easier to start with the conclusion and then work your way back up.
But keep the logical sequence in mind.
