Being an artist on social media is partially a mental matter. By seeing what other artists are doing and thinking, there's a subliminal desire to fit in/do what works, and you might find yourself replacing your own goals and dreams with the aspirations of the people you follow
If you're feeling overwhelmed by the idea of progress, it may be because you've overloaded your senses with too many ideas from too many people about what success looks like (a certain art style, a certain subject matter, a certain personality), and it's not really you.
There's always time to make a career in art if that's something you care about. There will always be someone out there who wants to see the work you wanna do, they might just not know it yet. But you can't rush the personal growth that happens in private.
Maturing, becoming more in tune with your own needs and wants, being passionate about the work you do, finding reasons to come back day after day. That stuff is just as important as keeping in touch with what's happening in your little corner of the art world.
