December 1985 InfoWorld:
An author puts the first chapter of his book on Compuserve and The Source, and offers 5$ for users to crosspost it to other BBSes/services. electronic books? it'll never catch on.
California was considering workplace safety laws about computer monitors. Interesting.
IBM may have to take back a bunch of PCjrs! terrible, but I'm sure the PCjr will spring back and become a success, any day now.
The marines were selling Apple IIs, and getting sued for it?
the 80s were weird.
Huh. Windows was originally called "Interface Manager"?
The HyperDrive 20.
Want a hard drive for your Fat Mac? Why use the external SCSI when you could just have it installed inside and wired directly into the motherboard?
Iomega! It's the Bernoulli Box, now with a controller card to let them be accessed natively without booting a regular floppy containing drivers.

Interesting that it was a floppy that was FASTER than contemporary hard drives.
and it ends with the only true constant in PCs:

Silent Hill 2 looks really great on modern computers with all the modern enhancement mods installed. Image
there we go.
it turns out if you install it without the full movies install, the nocd-hack in the enhancement pack causes it to lock up instead of loading the video off the CD Image
it does have a minor problem where when you hit escape, the background is something that's on your screen, like, uh, twitter. Image

Did you know MySQL isn't named like "My Computer" ?
"My" isn't a pronoun in the name, it's a noun.
The original author Michael "Monty" Widenius named it after his daughter My.
And the fork from before Oracle purchased it, MariaDB, is named after his other daughter, Maria.
His son Max doesn't get a database, apparently.
Correction: MySQL AB bought a database from SAP AG and renamed it MaxDB on 2003:
