What are the oldest languages on earth?

It seems that academics and professionals are still not entirely sure of how old language is, but general consensus us that it has been with us since around 100 000BC.
1/13
As a result of this disagreement, it is even harder to accept which is the oldest surviving language. That is, one that is still in use in our modern world.
2/13
Tamil: The earliest discovered written examples of Tamil date back to 300 BC. However, based on other evidence, scientists believe that it first appeared around 2500 BC.
3/13
And while it may not be known to a lot of people on our planet, today Tamil is spoken by around 78 million people which makes it the longest surviving language in the world.
4/13
Sanskrit: Next in line is Sanskrit, the ancient language of India which can be traced back to 2000BC in its earliest written form. . While today only a very small group of people still speak the language, it has had a large influence on
5/13
several western languages as part of the common

Indo-European language root. What you might not know is that the basic language of computers were also constructed along the principles of Sanskrit.
6/13
Greek: Best known as the language of philosophers and scholars, Greek is still spoken by more than 13 million people. Records reveal that the language dates back to around 1500BC and is recognised as an official language by the European Union.
7/13
Chinese: Chinese is the single most spoken language in the world today with around 1.2 billion people wh consider it their first language.
8/13
The written origins of the language have been traced back to 1250 BC in the late Shang dynasty.

Along with Tamil, Chinese is one of the oldest surviving languages in the world.
9/13
Hebrew: While many believe that Hebrew has been used for the last 5000 years, its earliest written examples date only to 1000BC.

It is also an interesting example because it ceased to be a spoken tongue from 200 CE to 400 CE and was only really resurrected
10/13
as a living language after the creation of the state of Israel after the second world war.. At present, around 9 million people speak Hebrew across the world.
11/13
Arabic: Another ancient language with only relatively recent written examples is Arabic. The earliest example of Arabic inscription dates back to 512 CE.
12/13
Today, about 290 million people consider Arabic as their first language, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait and Oman.

Who is controlling BBC Tamil?

BBC Tamil is not controlled by any individual or entity outside of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) itself. Here's a breakdown of its structure and governance:
1/7
Ownership and Funding:

•The BBC is a public service broadcaster, meaning it's not-for-profit and independent of the British government.
2/7
•Its funding comes primarily from the television license fee, paid by all households in the UK with a TV.

•This ensures editorial independence and allows BBC Tamil to operate without pressure from any specific group or agenda.

ELECTORAL REFORMS

Combining blockchain technology with electronic voting machines (EVMs) could potentially offer some advantages in terms of making votes uneditable, but it also has limitations and challenges to consider:
1/15
Potential advantages:

Immutability:

Blockchain's core feature is a distributed ledger, where every transaction is permanently recorded and chained together chronologically.
2/15
This makes it extremely difficult to alter or delete votes stored on the blockchain, as any change would require updating every node in the network, which is virtually impossible to do undetected.

ELECTORAL REFORMS

Elections should be conducted in two phases.

The first phase shall be a qualifying round, and only the top two candidates who get the most votes in this qualifying round shall be selected as the persons who qualify for the second round.
1/19
A second round of voting should be held for both of them and the candidate who gets more than 51% of the votes will be declared the winner.
2/19
The two-phase election system described above, with a qualifying round followed by a final round between the top two candidates, has been proposed and debated in India for some time.

Let's explore its feasibility and potential pros and cons.

Which imposes that none but Brahmins should touch the idol of God. Isn't this policy wrong in 2024?
1/13
The idea that only Brahmins should touch idols or perform religious rituals is not supported by any major Hindu scripture or teaching.

In fact, the concept of untouchability, which underpins this belief, is widely considered to be discriminatory and harmful.

Here's why:
2/13
Origins of Untouchability:

• The practice of untouchability has complex historical and social roots, often linked to caste systems and power structures in ancient India. However, its origins do not justify its continued existence in modern society.

Whether Tamil Nadu's ambitious goal of becoming a trillion-dollar economy by 2030 is achievable remains a debatable question. While the state boasts significant strengths and potential, numerous challenges stand in its way.
