There are a lot of Takes about miss JKR today & I guess as a black person I should be most offended by the house elf situation. But somehow the thing that makes me the angriest is thinking abt Seamus. It just... if I think about it too hard I might black out & just start swinging
Thinking about her giggling like “this will be such a fun Easter egg of a joke. Seamus blows things up! Because... well ....because😂....you know 😉”

I just!!!! I’m not Irish, but my Scottish ancestry will make my swings extra powerful on their behalf.
I think the reason it makes me so angry is bc its supposed to be a joke. All of the rest of her shit was earnestly hidden in subtext. But with Seamus, she beckons you to join her. Haha @ the concept of Seamus. American children laughing with no context, English children laughing.
Anyway, you might not know this but the first Harry Potter book came out the same year the IRA disbanded😌 just in case you think I’m over reacting 😌 she thot this was a good idea to write this to UK children in exactly that year 😌 for some reason😌

This has the same energy as when I was 14 and getting followed in a store for no reason and a random 40 year old white woman loudly inserted herself into the situation and said “EXCUSE ME, BUT WHY ARE YOU STALKING MY DAUGHTER😡😡😡” to embarrass the staff into stopping.
She bought all the stuff in my basket and we left together. Outside, she apologized for claiming me without my permission, & apologized for the fact that I was even getting followed in the first place. Then she wished me a good rest of my day and left. I’ll never forget her.
The best parts about it were how loud she was and she also said something like “OH NOW IT WAS A MISTAKE? NOW THAT SHES MY KID YOURE REASSESSING THE SITUATION, HUH?” and also how she didn’t demand a bunch of thanks and emotional energy from me afterwards as congratulations.

Hey wanna hear something really gay?
A girl I was in love with back in high school had S.A.D. And when it was winter, and had been grey for a while, I would put sunscreen on in the morning before school so that she could smell it on my skin and remember the light of the sun.
My mom always just thought I was a weirdo and afraid of getting a tan bUt LItTLe dID sHE kNoW sweet Aphrodite had me
@replies that are like "thats not gay thats just romantic/thoughtful"

I'm claiming this moment for the gays, ok. It was my moment and I did it for wlw reasons. Its a tongue in cheek tweet, but we can't sit round and diminish the history of a language of subtle intimate gestures-

I was depressed a while ago & then one day when I felt better I was singing in the kitchen while making dinner. My roommate bursts in like “oh thank goodness” and I was like “what??” and she said “You stop singing when you’re unhappy and our house has been silent for 4 months.”
And like... with that single sentence, I learned what it meant to be loved, silently. To be known without knowing it.
Sometimes I think about how I was pretty normal that whole time, my depression presents mostly as exhaustion and memory loss, but doesn’t really affect my mood much. So I was having fun and laughing with her, while she anxiously waited and carefully watched. loving me quietly.
