Differences between Influenza (flu) and #COVID19

There are a lot more similarities than differences between the two viruses when it comes to clinical presentation. Read the photo for the similarities. The only difference is that in COVID there is also a loss/change in taste or smell.

Incubation Period

Symptoms manifest differently and this is an important part of diagnosis. #COVID symptoms appear 2-14 days AFTER EXPOSURE (averaging around 5 days after. Meanwhile for flu, it is 1-4 days after exposure.

It is also important to know your contacts before you had these symptoms. Were they diagnosed with COVID?
Both are contagious one day before symptoms appear. Therefore, in contact-tracing it is important to tell that information.

Studies also suggest that COVID is more contagious than the Flu.

School-aged children tend to have more severe illness with COVID. While for flu, it is younger children.

The most definitive way to know if what you have is a flu or COVID is to have yourself tested.

Flu is treated using supportive treatment (treating the symptoms and letting the body do the work). However, for high-risk groups, Oseltamivir and Zanamivir will work.

COVID treatment is still indefinite as of this moment. However, it is also managed with..

With supportive treatment. Remdesivir is used in some countries as an "Emergency Measure". Little is still known regarding COVID.

That's why it's best to prevent these infections altogether.

Keys to better prevention:
1 Wearing masks/face shield
2 Frequent handwashing
3 Physical distancing
4 Avoiding crowded places
5 Only going out when it is necessary

That's all.

THREAD regarding the MANILA BAY Project and where the opposition got it wrong.

I want to take this opportunity to thank DENR Secretary Roy Cimatu for his hardwork and contributions for our nation.

Despite DENR being bashed for days just because of some malignant nuances, the DENR has done a lot.

The opposition asked, "Why is DENR doing this? They should be contributing to COVID instead!"

Excuse us but:
1. Cimatu was assigned to then COVID-problematic Cebu. He was able to help them drop the # of COVID cases
2. Now he is helping Bacolod and Ilo-Ilo w/ COVID.
3. DENR slashed a chunk of their budget approx. Php 1.1 billion to funnel the funds to COVID fight.

NON-peer reviewed Ateneo De Manila study gets featured by mainstream media outlets for concluding that the Philippines has 3 million HIDDEN COVID cases. Said study was authored by Jan Frederick Cruz.

Let me tell you what can probably go wrong. 😉

#DDSThreads #COVID19

First of all, said study uses Case Fatality Rate(CFR). (Total deaths divided by total cases) It took Singapore's Case Fatality Rate since it concluded that Singapore has good testing performance. (Nahiya yung 2 million tests natin) Then, used Singapore's CFR as BASELINE...

and compared it to our CFR and total cases to derive the estimated total cases. Said study used our data from 2nd quarter of the year.(I assume April to June) Sounds good so far, right? From that data and formula,

Twitter wokes on a roll calling their "photoshop experts" to deny the veracity of the Duterte family dinner table photo posted by Sen @SAPBongGo last August 17.

Let's debunk their photoshop "experts" claims.

@13thFool posted this yesterday. He claims to have a friend with photography and photoshop skills that says this photo is edited. It went viral for the wrong reasons.

First of all, the placemat of PRRD is off the table for about an inch. If you see closely, it's angling ++
..downwards thanks to gravity and to the weight of his arms. This is also the reason why there is an "off-light" portion under his left arm. That's the placemat! This is also the reason why if they draw a line from the placemat to the edge of the table, it won't line up.
