To the morons babbling about "the right's obsession with pedophilia":

I'd love for you to read my adopted daughter's testimony against her tormentor. It will give you nightmares. It will make you obsessed with pedophilia, too. 1/
You only need to read one victim's detailed account of being repeatedly raped with blunt objects before you decide that anyone who so much as touches a child sexually should be hung by the genitals.

It's not a right-wing thing. It's a decent human being thing. 2/
This is the one absolute rule that should be law everywhere: CHILDREN CANNOT CONSENT TO SEX WITH AN ADULT.

Fortunately, it's still law here in Colorado.

It isn't law everywhere because of pedophiles and their apologists. California is the latest example.

3/
If getting justice for my daughter's tormentor makes me "obsessed with pedophilia," I DGAF.

She is safe. He is in prison for 13 to life.

Let's do some math.

Say you earn $45,000 a year. Your employer buys you health care insurance at $20,000 a year. That $20K counts as YOUR compensation for the business' tax purposes.

Who gets the tax break? NOT YOU. 1/
Employers have been able to write off HC insurance contributions since the end of WWII. The reason for it was government wage controls. So instead of paying a non-competitive salary, employers could offer benefits, get a tax break, and not break the wage control rules. 2/
The wage controls were lifted decades ago, but the tax break remained.

Today employers still get tax write-offs for inflated costs of HC insurance. But instead of paying YOU that $20K, they pay the insurer and pocket the tax savings. 3/

A Thanksgiving adventure, 1974.

In her Ford Pinto, my mom, sister, and I made the 8-hour journey to visit the grandparents for Thanksgiving.

The holiday itself was pretty quiet, and we had a nice time. 1/
My grandparents lived in a small town on Lake Erie. Lake-effect snow started falling on Sunday as we prepared to go back home. My grandpa was worried and suggested we stay another day. 2/
My mom had been at her job less than a year and didn't have any vacation days to take. And she couldn't afford to miss a day's pay. So off we went. 3/
