This shocking story brings to mind misinformation campaigns on Facebook, except it’s the Postal Service using its own “platform” to send messages to Americans that Secretaries of State say will suppress voting & undermine public confidence in the election…
The Postal Service’s defense of sending postcards to households that tell people to do things in order to vote that actually don’t apply in many states and contradict what people SHOULD be doing is unbelievable.
If you view the mail as a kind of early Internet— an expansive, universal network to distribute information across vast distance, this story reads like a dark parody of ISPs gone wild, and having too little oversight. Except the ISP is the Post Office…
