/Today was the turn of @RoyalAirForce to brief on Integrated Review #ISDR. Now familiar themes of the need for technical innovation, to rebalance forces -with increasingly sophisticated threats in an unstable world. And a focus on new unmanned systems and space.
/ The @ChiefofAirStaff said “ Instrad of mass and mobilisation, Defence will focus more on speed, readiness and global reach - what air and space power does best”
/ Echoing DefSec CAS said “our potential adversaries have watched us, and they have learnt. Threats from hostile state actors are increasingly more sophisticated with new combat aircraft, missiles, stealth - which challenges our superiority “
/ he said “RAF must ..act faster with even greater precision, lethality and in MORE places around the world simultaneously than we do today “
/ CAS “Sophisticated air defences missiles, anti satellite weapons, cyber and potent long range missiles are becoming more capable and proliferating to proxy states too. SPACE is now a contested warfighting domain”
/ Says RAF are “ looking at a game changing mix of swarming drones, autonomous remotely piloted and piloted aircraft ..that will transform the combat battle space in a way not seen since the jet age”
/ On SPACE @ChiefofAirStaff said “ we must ensure the safety and security of the space domain. Our access to space is fundamental to national security and any loss of disruption to satellite services wd have disastrous effect on our day to day lives”
