-Recently on the social media everyone got to hear about Rashid Mehmood sahib’s ordeal in which he was paid Rs620 only for his Pride Of Performance. If it wasn’t for the social media, nothing would have happened. It’s sad to see our legends/artists being treated disrespectfully 2

by the state TV. This should not have happened, the management should have had proper SOPs in place along with good monitoring. Sadly, this is just one example, there are countless artists still waiting for cheques to be cleared since years. Quite shameful really, that you take 3

advantage of other people’s hardwork & trust. Nothing happens till media picks it up. Tsk tsk.
- I was offered a show called Signature Tunes on PTV Home early this year & was told that I would be paid monthly for the Pakistani music chart show. I was happy to be promoting our 4

local talent ofcourse. Having said that, i’m not a newbie & have been hosting onground,TV & Radio shows for more than 13 years. Since i’m the kind of host who takes ownership, I mostly arranged guests through my own contacts & worked on the content myself. Took time out, worked 5

on the content myself. Took time out & worked hard for it, despite working on other projects. I wanted to give the show a flavor which was newage, to introduce good music & have diversity on PTV. Not just the same genre of music & usual suspects we get to see on PTV, which 6

frankly speaking, people are not interested in now. Also, I dont follow the herd, I bring my own flavor. Living in 2020 & hosting a show on music, there was zero digital presence, nor any promotion, support or marketing from PTV’s side at all. Everything I did, I did on my own 7

& through my contacts, just so I could support good content. I didnt have any Godfather there, hence, no-one bothered. Is that fair? Why should PTV even state it has a music chart show in their programming, which clearly they are not even interested in promoting in any way? 8

The team of the show got in touch with me in June again & wanted to record more episodes. I told them I wont till they clear my previous payment, to which they assured me that I shouldn’t worry & everything would be sorted. June was the month in which Covid19 was at its peak in 9

Pakistan. I went ahead, did my duty, we all followed strict SOPs, recorded the program(5 episodes) during high risk days. Suddenly, we got to know the show wont be aired. Why? Reason? Noone bothered to take my team or the host in loop to inform us of any changes professionally 10

The entire effort of my team, guests & myself was completely wasted. The show got shut WITHOUT any reason. Just like that. Embarrassing & disrespectful for me, my guests & my team. So none of our hardwork counted? No prior information to anyone? No ethics? Etiquettes? Atleast 11

have the decency to speak to your host & director honestly. Guess what was playing instead? PTV is certainly not used to innovative or good content, they’d rather watch something from the 60’s, as they are repugnant to change & fresh programming. Currently, they sent a 12

notification to everyone at PTV to start working on fresh content post covid 19(which includes a music chart show) but why have they shut down previous ones without any explanation? Is this only on writing, so people know you have something but in reality no one cares? This is 13

what Pakistani music, hosts & artists mean to PTV?
- Till yet, I have not received any payment for Signature Tunes & for months I have recorded the episodes, given time & shown dedication. My director & show’s team have been really nice but their hands are tied & they all feel 14

frustrated. This is violating our rights & making us work for free & then disrespecting us and that is NOT on.
- The current management is incompetent & not up to the mark sadly. Frankly speaking, it’s a joke. PTV will not have any bright prospects of turning things around 15

with such mindsets ruling the station. It’s sad that in order to get rights here, you have to resort to social media. I have been politely asking for MY OWN hard-earned money since months but noone is doing anything, nor does anyone say anything about our show. My demand is 16

simple; To give me my dues & my request is as easy- Let me know the status of my show that I have worked hard on for many months.
- Something I always mention during my events is to give artists & hosts respect. PTV does not. Sadly, it reeks of disrespect now.
