I listened to every episode from 2010 until about 2015, when he started having all the IDW goofballs on the pod. If you want someone who can wrangle a showman and a grifter, Joe is not your guy /2
All you gotta do is listen to him doing his everyman schtick (and it is a schtick) along with grifters like Tim Pool or Andy Ngo and you’ll see how he is the perfect modern foil for today’s modern grifters. He makes their bullshit go down easier with dopey incurious dudes /3

I like Joe when he’s talking about regular person shit like martial arts and cars. I like his persona - people who interact with him attest that he’s not that affable friendly guy in real life, especially if you challenge him /5
I bring that up not just to talk shit but to point out that even after a full term of Trump presidency, people are still all too willing to assume the narrative a celebrity persona has put out there. I guess that’s a feature that’s baked into our culture now. /x
