I used to work as a reporter for @KPCC (aka Southern California Public Radio.) They knew exactly who we all were even back in 2008 or so. @LASDHQ is full of shit.

Plus, given how many of my colleagues from there have been targeted by law enforcement in recent months, I would argue that they know exactly who everybody is.

We should strip the responsibility of credentialing media from law enforcement agencies and give it over to community groups. They're clearly not capable of handling it and we obviously cannot trust them.

To be honest, I let my credentials expire in 2013 and never looked back. I don't need anybody's fucking permission!!

I've been thinking about doing this thread for a couple of days. This is mostly for myself so I can go back to it, I don't really expect anybody in this dying hellscape to see it, but I wanted to lay it out here for my own sake. Here's my last few years in news stories:

Here's me, just so incredibly naive in late 2016, saying that "fake news" wasn't the problem so much as lack of journalism. For the record, I still stand by this, but at the time I had no idea how much social media was in on the disinfo attacks:
