Canadian company Recon Africa plans to dig wells in two Kavango regions for oil and gas.

Concerns:

▩Namibia’s fertile land
▩Protected area supplies Okavango Delta with water.
▩11 community conservancies affected
▩Includes last refuge of Kalahari San People
Okavango Drilling | Government has issued licences for a Canadian company to drill deep holes in most of Kavango East and Kavango West. The archaeological record of the area gives a chronological account of human activities and environmental changes over at least 100 000 years.
#OkavangoDrilling | Damage | A typical set of wells drilled in Colorado’s Green River area for a Shale development like the one Recon Energy wants to develop in Namibia and Botswana. The wells sprawl out for hundreds of square kilometers.
