1. On April 28, Trump signed an order requiring meatpacking plants to "continue their operations to the fullest extent possible."

At the time 20 meatpacking workers had died of COVID-19

4 months later, at least 203 meatpacking workers have died

2. A draft of the executive order was sent to Trump by a meatpacking industry group a week before Trump signed the order.

While Trump framed the action as an "order" to the meatpacking industry, he was actually doing its bidding

3. Last week, as the death toll mounted, the Trump administration finally took some action.

It fined JSB for failing to protect workers at a plant where 7 people died of COVID.

The fine was $15,615.

JSB had $51.7 billion in revenue last year

4. Why is Trump bending over backward for the meatpacking industry. Follow the money. One of Trump's biggest financial supporters, Ron Cameron, is one of the largest producers of chicken in the country.

5. Easy to Twitter-shame random people on the street without masks but COVID-19 is being spread aggressively behind closed doors -- in meatpacking plants, prisons, etc.

1. There has been a lot of focus on the HYPOCRISY of the Senate focusing the next 6 weeks on Trump's SCOTUS nominee.

But that has obscured its CRUELTY

The Senate last passed COVID legislation 5 MONTHS AGO

Millions are suffering.

2. All of the economic relief targeted at everyday Americans have expired.

Meanwhile, 19 million children (1 in 4) live in a household that isn’t getting enough to eat, is behind on rent or mortgage, or both

The Senate has decided to do nothing

3. In March, when the stock market briefly sank to 18500, there was an economic crisis.

Now the stock market is back at 27,288.18 and the Senate has moved on.

But for many, things are only getting worse.

1. We should probably talk more about how Trump's campaign is courting members of a cult who believe Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, and Tom Hanks are Satan-worshiping pedophiles who are running a secret sex trafficking operation and only Trump can stop them

2. Ivanka and Bill Barr traveled to Georgia yesterday to participate in an event around human trafficking. There was no new policy to announce, just a small amount of grant funding. Ivanka and Barr jointly made a similar announcement in August.

3. Trump was asked explicitly about QAnon in August and only had nice things to say.

He described the group as "growing in popularity" and comprised of "people who love our country."

He said he appreciated their support.

1. Facebook says its committed to combating climate change and has created a new Climate Science Information Center page but the page's section on what steps can be taken to reduce carbon emissions is straight out of the fossil fuel industry playbook

2. Facebook's page emphasizes individual actions (like turning off lights) while ignoring systemic issues like polluting companies, policy obstruction, and unchecked climate denial

Facebook says it consulted experts to create the page but won't say who

3. The biggest problem with Facebook's effort is that it does nothing to stop the rapid spread of climate disinformation on its platform.

One source of viral climate disinformation is the Daily Caller, WHICH IS AN OFFICIAL FACEBOOK FACT-CHECKING PARTNER

On August 3, Murkowski said she would not support filling a Supreme Court vacancy this year because it would be a double standard
Romney and Collins were non-committal in August:

"We do not have a vacancy on the Supreme Court. All nine justices are alive," Collins said.

Romney said: "I'm not at a point where I have something to say."
Grassley said if he were still chair of the Judiciary Committee he wouldn’t move a nomination forward but did not comment on whether he’d vote for a nominee that was brought to the floor

Facebook is not a "right-wing echo chamber"

In August, the top two websites on Facebook were THE DAILY WIRE and FOX NEWS

I've been documenting how Facebook tilts the playing field to right-wing publications in my newsletter.

Facebook's DC office is run by GOP operatives

Facebook allows The Daily Wire and other right-wing sites to break its rules

"Decisions are made to benefit Republicans because they are paranoid about their reputation among conservative Republicans, particularly Trump"

“In an exclusive interview with the Guardian, Amy Dorris alleged that Trump accosted her outside the bathroom in his VIP box at the tournament in New York on 5 September 1997.”
“Dorris, who was 24 at the time, accuses Trump of forcing his tongue down her throat, assaulting her all over her body and holding her in a grip she was unable to escape from.”
