How to start fish farming
Fish farming is an act of rearing fish for commercial purpose. This involves building the earthen, tarpaulin or concrete pond, fertilizing the pond, stocking the fingerlings or juveniles in good water and
feeding the fish till marketable size.

(1) Get a good location for your fish farming business make sure you have decide whether starting small or big scale fish farming, Only then you cam decide if using tank or tarpaulin pond at your backyard but if you want to start big you
may need to buy or rent one or few fish ponds ( earthen or concrete ponds ) out of your home if required

(2) Get a good source of water for the fishes, water is very important regardless of the type of scale you plan to go into. Availability of proper channel of inflow & outflow
of water into your pond helps the to grow well and prevent diseases that can be cause from polluted water

(3) Decide the right species of fish to farm, there are hundreds ( if not thousands) of species the fish family. This means you as a potential fish farmer have to decide
which species to choose as you are starting your own fish farm business.
However, you are likely to be okay with catfish which is the most common fish farming in Africa (or Tilapia in a rare occasion)

(4) Get healthy fingerlings or juveniles, it is advisable for new farmer
to buy juvenile size of fish from a standard hatchery farm than buying of fingerlings due to the sensibility management required to it to juvenile size

(5) Choose the right fish feeds, this is the most expensive part of fish farming, There are two form of feeds which are
floating and sinking, depending on your business plan you can choose to feed them foreign or locally product.

(6) Start marketing your fishes at least a month before harvest in other to see buyer with good pricing rate.

(7) Be business minded too many potential fish farmer
think its just about feeding the fish and selling them.

(8) Think about a mentor and fish farming training while this should be the first thing i'm listing it last. Usually the difference between success and failure in any business is knowledge not always about money.
Please like and retweet to educate other on your contact that may be thinking of going into fish farming.
