/I lost my uncle Hony. Flt. Lt. (Rtd) Harcharan Singh to this. He had a cardiac + minor stroke while on a pilgrimage to Nankana Sahib and Panja Sahib in Pakistan. He had collapsed at the climb of wali kandhari and Pak authorities noting he is an IAF ESM arrranged his evacuation
/ Via a PAF helicopter to Lahore. Upon stabilizing, he was escorted to wagah by none other than the DC of Lahore. Then our perils started in Delhi. He was refused attention both at Base hospitals and RR. Had to literally rub our nose at RR for a week for angioplasty
/Still no attention was paid to the issues related to the mild stroke and was discharged. His condition aggrevated within a week and then we were flatly refused both by Base and RR. By the time we took him to a pet hospital, he had slipped in a coma.
/ the hospital milked us for week and then it was all over. We had been praying for his redemption. The difference in response by PAF and IAF left me in a shock, but then back in 2009 there was no twitter, no recorse and no redressal.
/ Had been burdened by this experience all along and felt by sharing this story, probably I can contribute to the ongoing struggle. This could still happen to any ESM/ veteran.
