A massacre that took place in this village on 9/16/1969, under the leadership of Second Lieutenant Abdul Karim Al-Juhaishi, a member of the Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party, and units of the Iraqi army...
... On that day, 38 of our people were killed while another 22 were wounded, many of which were children. They were buried there and the military units then burned down the village...
We’ve been through various violations, assaults, tribulations & massacres, including Seyfo massacre (carried out by Ottoman Empire in 1915) where more than 750,000 of our people were killed (according to existing stats) & hundreds of thousands were displaced to different regions.
... followed by the Simele massacre, which was carried out by the Iraqi government against our people... resulting in ~4000 deaths, destruction of the town of Simele along with 63 of our villages...
... this occurred just as we were coming out of one of the worst phases in our history where we lost more than half our population during the massacres committed against us by the Ottoman Empire and Kurdish clans that allied with them during World War I and the Seyfo massacres.
The massacres did not stop there, as we faced Soriya in 1969 and Anfal in 1988, we experienced attacks after the fall of the regime as well, the 2010 attack on Our Lady of Deliverance church in Baghdad, forced displacement from ISIS in Nineveh Plain, displacement in Khabour...
... Our people are still fighting for their presence on their land, the land of their ancestors.
