Holy shit. “[D]efense officials were searching for crowd control technology deemed too unpredictable to use in war zones and had authorized the transfer of about 7,000 rounds of ammunition to the D.C. Armory.” washingtonpost.com/local/dc-prote…
“Just before noon on June 1, the Defense Department’s top military police officer in the Washington region sent an email to officers in the D.C. National Guard. It asked whether the unit had a Long Range Acoustic Device, also known as an LRAD, ...”
“or a microwave weapon called the Active Denial System, which was designed by the military to make people feel like their skin is burning when in range of its invisible rays.”

READ THAT AGAIN.
“The technology, also called a “heat ray,” was developed to disperse large crowds in the early 2000s but was shelved amid concerns about its effectiveness, safety and the ethics of using it on human beings.”
“Pentagon officials were reluctant to use the device in Iraq. In late 2018, the New York Times reported, the Trump administration had weighed using the device on migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border — an idea shot down by Kirstjen Nielsen, then the Homeland Security secretary,...”
“citing humanitarian concerns.”

I mean Jesus Christ.
“[DeMarco] told lawmakers he felt compelled to come forward as a witness because he found the events at Lafayette Square “deeply disturbing.””
“DeMarco also testified that a stash of M4 carbine assault rifles was transferred from Fort Belvoir to the D.C. Armory on June 1 and that transfers of ammunition from states such as Missouri and Tennessee arrived in subsequent days.”
“By mid-June, about 7,000 rounds of 5.56 mm and 7.62 mm ammunition rounds had been transferred to the D.C. Armory, DeMarco said.”
I guess the President is ready for his civil war.

Some fairly devastating news: my best friends here, who are not US citizens but have green cards & are less than two years away from citizenship, are throwing in the towel.

They were raised in South America. They said tonight “what will be left for any of us after his coup?”
They have been worried for a while. They know what this looks like. They’ve seen it before.

They are both skilled developers at tech/entertainment companies. They both have solid jobs with futures here. They have a daughter who doesn’t remember anything other than America.
After Trump’s comments today, though, they are terrified and done.

Terrified of fascism. Terrified of armed white supremacist gangs in the streets. Terrified of not being able to leave until it’s too late.

I caved.

Meet Donut.

My kids don’t know yet OMG.

He is technically Sophie’s little brother, three and a half years later.
Donut gives very good side-eye.
He arrives October 8.

I’ve had a relationship with this small family breeder for more than 5 years (they live near my folks), and Pops is flying Donut our here himself for hand delivery.

OMG can’t wait.

Reminder: I have been targeted again by a “reporter” from the Washington Examiner.

The last time he targeted me, some of his followers threatened to murder my children & made violent memes about shooting my kids. He knows this, but has gone in a second time.

My feed is locked.
I will reopen it when this blows over and his aggressive right wing followers move on to their next instructed target.

I am reminded of what @DoctorRamani’s work on narcissistic sociopathy: up to 30% of the country has a narcissistic personality disorder and can’t feel empathy.
It’s too bad so many of them are hanging out on Siraj Hashmi’s feed, waiting for instructions from their leader on how to harass, insult, demean and threaten women (many with kids), gay men and those deemed deserving of violence on his daily “list.”

The last time this asshole from @dcexaminer came for me, his followers threatened to murder my children.

I have let loose on his feed. Please report and block.
Reminder: his mantra is that anyone who comes for him is islamophobic, which they think is some kind of joke. Report and block the idiot minions as well please. They’re already here.

The @GOP is currently a bunch of spineless cowards terrified of a goddamn tweet while democracy burns like a California wildfire.

I'd call you twats but mine has more strength that your entire tiny dick party.

(Oooh, I'm mad.)
Seriously, @SenJohnThune? SERIOUSLY?

WHERE ARE YOUR BALLS?
I mean, how did you all become so fucking WEAK?

You're going to let the AG walk around comparing staying home during a worldwide public health crisis to genocidal human enslavement that we perpetrated for 250 years?

What the fuck is WRONG WITH YOU?

You know, I really can’t overstate the degree of abhorrent misogyny I experienced as a lawyer.

Getting ready to walk the dog just now, I had a blowback to an incident when I was a third or fourth year associate.

There were two piggish men heading antitrust work at the firm.
I got assigned to write an opposition to a motion to dismiss like three days before it was due. These guys had no staff because everyone had refused to work with them.

I got to work. 24 hours before the deadline I got a call: “how’s the brief?”
I said truthfully “it’ll be ready for filing.”

Dude didn’t believe me. Went into the draft without telling me. Found the one section I was working on that still had to be written.

Publicly excoriated me on a 30 person co-counsel email within an hour as not being up to the job.
