News Media Who Ignore The Assange Trial Are Admitting They Don’t Care About Journalism

The #AssangeTrial prosecution has moved its argument from "Assange isn't a journalist" to "We're allowed to imprison journalists", yet most "journalists" remain silent.
medium.com/@caityjohnston…
.@smh just published an article titled “Julian Assange interrupts extradition hearing again” about the WikiLeaks founder’s correct interjection that he never put anyone’s lives in danger with the publication of the Manning leaks a decade ago.
archive.is/O44x5
At no time does @latikambourke (who has been a regular smearer of Assange) bother to provide the reader with any of the public information showing that Assange never caused anyone harm and was not responsible for the unredacted documents being made public.
consortiumnews.com/2020/02/27/ass…
Bourke weaves a narrative about Assange being badly behaved in the courtroom, insinuates that the accusations he objected to could be true to the furthest extent possible without actually making a claim that would need to be retracted, and gets out.
And unfortunately this drivel is more or less typical of the coverage Assange’s historic, world-shaping extradition trial has been receiving from the mass media since it resumed this month.
This dereliction of journalistic responsibility was damning enough back when the prosecution was trying to argue that Assange was engaged in espionage and not journalistic behavior. Now that they're arguing they can extradite any journalist they want, it's far more pronounced.
.@CraigMurrayOrg writes the following in his latest update:
Murray’s subsequent breakdown of the prosecution’s arguments makes it clear that he was not over-selling this change in strategy.
craigmurray.org.uk/archives/2020/…
So that’s the precedent the prosecution is setting now. No longer “We can extradite and imprison Assange because he isn’t a journalist”, but “We can extradite and imprison Assange because we’re allowed to extradite and imprison journalists.”
The argument that Assange isn’t a journalist has always been transparently false. Publishing important information so that the public can understand what’s going on in their world is exactly the thing that journalism is, and he's won many awards for it.
medium.com/@caityjohnston…
But the fact that the prosecution is no longer even attempting to argue otherwise means they have ceased trying to pretend that they are not waging a war against journalism. Which means that all journalists have lost their last excuse for not condemning Assange’s persecution.
Now that it is out in the open that the US government plans to prosecute journalists for “disclosure of secrets which harm the national interest” (which in Assange’s case means exposing US war crimes), anyone who plans on doing real journalism is at risk.
shadowproof.com/2020/09/08/ass…
If someone isn’t using whatever platform they can to denounce Assange’s persecution, they are showing the world that they have no interest in ever doing real journalism which holds real power to account.
The prosecution’s new arguments should have drawn massive headlines from all the major news outlets who’ve been bloviating about the dangers posed by Trump’s war on the press with flamboyant preening and self-aggrandizement. Instead they are silent, because they do not care.
To quote Maya Angelou, when someone shows you who they are, believe them.

MSM Promotes Yet Another CIA Press Release As News

"WaPo, whose sole owner is a CIA contractor, has published yet another anonymously sourced CIA press release disguised as a news report which just so happens to facilitate longstanding CIA foreign policy"
medium.com/@caityjohnston…
WaPo’s virulent neoconservative war pig @joshrogin describes what was told to him by unnamed sources about the contents of a “secret” CIA document which alleges that Putin is “probably” overseeing an interference operation in the US presidential election.
True to form, at no point does WaPo follow standard journalistic protocol and disclose its blatant financial conflict of interest with the CIA when promoting an unproven CIA narrative which happens to serve the consent-manufacturing agendas of the CIA.

It has been 8 days since the news broke that the Russian bounties story lacks evidence and has been discredited. Democrats continue babbling on as though it's a real thing because their worldview is not based in reality.
Here it is again, for the victims of Russiagate-induced amnesia:
They're still just ticking along, with zero interest in facts or truth.

‘Confirmed’ Has Become A Meaningless Word In Mainstream News Reporting

"The reader assumes they’re confirming the source’s claim is true, but all they’re confirming is that the first reporter didn’t just make up the claim they’re uncritically parroting."

Last week @politico published a report that the “Iranian government is weighing an assassination attempt against the American ambassador to South Africa” in retaliation for the assassination of Soleimani earlier this year, citing (you guessed it) anonymous government officials.
The claim was nonsensical on its face; the idea that Iran would see the killing of some random ambassador to an irrelevant country as a proportionate response to the killing of its beloved top military commander would only make sense to someone with a very US-centric worldview.

People often (correctly) cite this clip to show how evil the drivers of the US empire are, but I also use it to show what dumb, incompetent failmeisters they are. They really thought they'd be able to topple all those countries in 5 years. Don't be intimidated by these assholes.
Humanity is more than capable of standing up to these sick fucks. They overestimate themselves and underestimate the rest of us. We shouldn't do the same. A lot of people talk about elite manipulators like they're unstoppable forces when nothing could be further from the truth.
Our species is in its current situation because a few primates without functioning empathy centers got a little more clever than the other primates. There are still vast forces in our universe and within each of us that can slap the empire away like a sand castle under a tsunami.

This lunatic has 46k followers and has made multiple posts encouraging them to mass-report me for being some kind of secret Russian. Comments have people saying they did report me. Last time I was banned was from dumb mass-reporting like this. Hopefully this time it doesn't work.
Details on the last time I was mass-reported and suspended for saying things brainwashed empire loyalists don't like, and then un-suspended after everyone made a big noise about it:

Stephen Cohen Has Died. Remember His Urgent Warnings Against The New Cold War.

"Cohen has for years been correctly predicting this chilling scenario which now threatens the life of every organism on earth, even while his own life was nearing its end."
medium.com/@caityjohnston…
Stephen F Cohen, the renowned American scholar on Russia and leading authority on US-Russian relations, has died of lung cancer at the age of 81.
As one of the precious few western voices of sanity on the subject of Russia while everyone else has been frantically flushing their brains down the toilet, this is a real loss.
