This reply is an "Actual" example that highlights the hypocrisy that our political class in the form of - central govt & also state govts - have been displaying towards Health & Healthcare issues & Healthcare workers.
For many reasons.....
1. When it came to examinations, resource allocation, pandemic management the central govt refused to acknowledge that health is a state subject....but when it comes to evading responsibility of paying compensation/insurance as announced health is allowed to become state subject.
2. How can govt not have the death data be it of general public or Healthcare workers when it has been claiming high recovery rate & low death rate.
They don't have accurate data track of death in HCW & yet they can claim that their death figures are accurate?!
3. The damn hypocrisy also lies in casual attitude about death data where they have promised compensation/insurance package when many there are state govts (like Maharashtra) who have demanded mandatory services by doctors under coercion of penal action?!?
4. The hypocrisy is laid bare when you go back & read the notification by govt where it claimed (X) number of healthcare workers in India will be provided a temporary insurance compensation for limited period...covid19 is still here so what happened to that promise?
5. That claimed isurance was also a part of the financial package allocation announced by NS...so if the govt doesn't have data to pay that compensation, hasn't paid either...then where did the money go? Diya jalane me ya thali bajawane me??
6. I had said right at the start the use of the term warrior for HCW is incorrect. Sorry we are not Martyrs. All those who have died were trained professional loss of whom means a loss of 15-30 yrs of financial spending on their training & skills acquired. But we care a damn!!
Because that is what hypocrisy means - Caring a damn while creating a perception through theatre like plate banging, flower showers that we do care.

But actually we don't even give a damn to care about knowing how many Healthcare workers including doctors have died.
However, I personally find it difficult to accept that govt really doesn't has the data or doesn't has the means to gather it should it want to...so I am going to assume that the reason for this reply is that it doesn't want to for obvious reason of wanting to avoid compensation

There is a reason why pharma companies don't dare launch drugs without stringent protocols in EU or US markets unlike India (where they are being approved like cotton candy)& that reason is - The million & Billion Dollar claim compensations that have even led to bankruptcy.
Johnson&Johonson is facing a billion dollar suite for their baby powder which has come to bit them after more than 50 yrs. The recall of Bio-absorb stent is another. The post launch Black-box warning is another example.
Unless there is a stringent Drug regulator large population markets like India can become a human Guinea pig ground for international pharma giants.

As citizens you should be concerned why our Drug regulator & regulatory requirements are not as stringent as of EU & US.
