1. Then and now! 1980s n ama 2000: not my handwriting...i m too young for this one:
I remember growing up in Kambuzuma in the 80s.The Mayor of Harare was @ZANUPF_Official as all all councillors. I remember my late father was a keen gardener .
2. They was fierce competition in our Cashel road about who had the most beautiful garden because they was plentiful of safe potable water and buying bottled water from the shops was something of a rarity. I remember when ZANU-PF was in council they built all the tributary roads
3. in Kambuzuma in the early Eighties, that you see now In an acute state of neglect under the MDC council stewardship . Yes tarmac roads in Kambuzuma was built by a ZANU-PF led Council and not the Rhodesian government, before independence only main roads in Kambuzuma was built
1. Victoria Falls Stock Exchange News....
Zimbabwe will be aiming to attract global capital mostly from the mining sector when the Victoria Falls Stock Exchange comes into operation this week, @ZimTreasury Minister @MthuliNcube said last Friday.
2. VFEX, to be operated by @ZSE_ZW, will allow listed companies to raise and trade their stock in any convertible hard currency, limiting the exchange risk. According to @MthuliNcube there is a need for the creation of globally recognised stock exchanges in Africa,
3....those that arise from environments that are devoid of any negative impact of exchange rate fluctuations.
Said the @MthuliNcube
“In terms of the impact and the effects of the Victoria Falls Stock Exchange; why did we create it? We thought as a Government, there is no
@Zimposts and @POSBZimbabwe were put up for sale, but neither of the two has been privatised.
According to a recent update from @ZimTreasury: “A new Strategic Plan is being finalized which will determine the timing and the model of the privatization.”
The TSP’s wish, was to get a deal to revive Ziscosteel.
17. An agreement with R & F properties of China for Ziscosteel, signed by the previous administration, was canceled. The TSP supported an alternative plan under which a local company, ZimCoke,
1. Two years ago in TSP, Cde @MthuliNcube( yes, now i easily add the Cde prefix before his name for he has fought a hard fight) promised to reform parastatals among many other things. Today I will take time to share progress on some of the parastatals among other aspects.
2. *Storage Commission*
Launching the TSP, Ncube announced a draft livestock farming concession agreement with UK’s Boustead Beef. Boustead, would take over CSC’s feedlots and abattoirs. Two years on, CSC is nowhere near any rescue, and still US$36 million in debt.
3. According to @MoLAWRR_Zim Minister Anxious Masuka last week, CSC is being placed under reconstruction to protect it from creditors.
“In terms of progress (on a deal to revive CSC), we all know that the expectations have not been met,” Masuka said.
1. Many #Zimbabweans think 2008 situation in #Zimbabwe was unique n this has been largely due to the fact that we are so insular n so polarized we look at things in terms of @ZANUPF_Official n @mdczimbabwe. Bt 2008 there was a Global Financial Meltdown.
2. In First World Countries, Governments had to step in to save Financial Institutions from collapse m folding up. There was a Financial Crisis across the World. #Zimbabwe as a country already under sanctions was severely affected coz it had no external credit lines.
3. The ZWD as it was then, was deliberately shorted...yes, attacked deliberately. Many will doubt this but there is precedence to it you know. George Soros once shorted the British Pound itself. Its a deliberate position adapted in the Money Market.
