10 years ago today , September 17, 2010 , The final episode of "As the World Turns" aired on CBS after 56 years on the air #astheworldturns
It first aired on April 2nd, 1956, created by Irma Phillips who created "The Guiding Light" , She also created the first ever soap opera "Painted Dreams" for WGN Radio , and first daily strip soap for TV "These are my children" . Also created "Another World"
" As the world turns, we know the bleakness of winter, the promise of spring, the fullness of summer, and the harvest of autumn—the cycle of life is complete" was the creed for the series.
The program started the same date as "The Edge of Night" also on CBS. These were the first soaps to be 30 minutes in length. At the time, soaps were 15 minutes in length
. The idea of the series was to present Lawyers and Doctors and the dramas of their lives, as Phillips liked to present the lives of professionals as storylines. The Series went Color in 1967.
On December 1st 1975, the series expanded to an hour, when the Edge of Night was moved to ABC. The show was much more slower in it's story telling, making everything bulid up instead of quick and fast melodrama.
The Series, currently has the distinction of having the 3 longest serving soap actors: Helen Wagner, Don Hastings, and Eileen Fulton. Wanger said the first words in the series "Good Morning, Dear"
After using essentially the same look for most of it's early 25 years, it finally changed to a new look and theme in 1981. Honestly, this is best theme
With a nice update in 1986
Really though, this is the best theme for the series
It changed looks and music in 1993 , it's nice music
They changed the look again in 1999 , with what I think is the 2nd best theme song for the show
Another change in 2002, with one of the shorter lived looks for the show...
They kept the music from 2002, in the 2004 revamp and they changed the look to blue.
That look changed after 2 years as well, in 2006 they introduced this look and new music
They changed it one last time in 2009 to whatever this was. What the heck?
In December of 2009, CBS announced the series would end in 2010, and marking the end of Procter & Gamble made soap shows.
The final episode, aired on September 17, 2010. 10 years ago, today. The final words were "Good Night" ind of nice full circle.

My favorite Peanuts Movie is "Race for Your Life , Charlie Brown" I wish it had more boat race , but it's still a fun movie. #Peanuts70
Now, I will say that "A Boy Named Charlie Brown" is the best Peanuts movie, and it's the first movie, It does a good job of feeling cinematic , overall, it's my 3rd in my list of the 5 movies. (There's no movie I dislike from Peanuts) #Peanuts70
"Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown (and Don't come back)" is my second favorite. there's something to it that I enjoy. Plus you get to see Snoopy drive a car. It has a slightly darker tone to it at last 3rd #Peanuts70
Charlie Brown was first introduced on October 2, 1950 ,he's the only of the main characters from the start to stay a main character. #Peanuts70#CharlieBrownDay His name appeared first in "Li'l Folks" in May 1948
Early Charlie Brown was more assertive, snarky and playful than what he would become later. #CharlieBrownDay
Snoopy eventually ended up being Charlie Brown's dog, earlier strips didn't have a noted owner. His father is a barbe, and mother a housewife #CharlieBrownDay

Even though, he was one of the first characters , Shermy wasn't long for the cast as he became more background when new characters were introduced. Even his role as Charlie Brown's best friend was handed over to Linus #ShermyDay
