Alongside @ProfKarolSikora and others I have spent the last 6 mths warning of the effects of lockdown on cancer services. With the threat of a second lockdown looming I now feel all the marginal survival gains of early detection and better treatment during my career slipping away
The NHS can’t cope so this needs to become an urgent government priority with significant funding to clear the massive cancer backlog of more than 3 million patients waiting for screening or diagnosis @MattHancock @RishiSunak @BorisJohnson
If this is not funded urgently , the UK will slip even further down the cancer survival league tables for Western countries. Please act now @BorisJohnson to stop this human tragedy. Please RT to gain support and put pressure on the UK government
