(1 of the 4 cases in each building was identified after the initial notification and prior to follow-up testing). (2/10)
Follow-up testing identified an additional 2 cases in Echols for a total of 6. Testing in Kellogg identified 7 additional cases for a total of 11. (3/10)
Test results from asymptomatic prevalence testing from Lefevre, where there were no known positive cases prior to testing, are currently being processed. (4/10)
In accordance with the University’s COVID-19 Prevention, Detection, and Response Plan, students who tested positive are being notified and are being placed in isolation housing. All students with positive tests are doing well. (5/10)
Their close contacts, including roommates, are being placed in quarantine housing. (6/10)
The Virginia Department of Health will conduct contact tracing investigations into these cases and notify any additional individuals who may have been in close contact that they will need to quarantine as well. (7/10)
The University will continue to conduct wastewater and prevalence testing throughout the UVA community in order to detect cases as early as possible and take action to limit the spread of the virus. (8/10)
We thank the residents of these residence halls for their patience and cooperation and ask all UVA community members to continue wearing masks, stay home when they feel sick, follow physical distancing guidelines, and avoid large gatherings. (9/10)
