Having exceeded the allowable use of the analogy “tire fire,” the 2020 #Mets now have an actual one across the street at a ballpark neighborhood attraction known as “Missing Witness Chip Shop Row.” From @SNYtv #LGM
Not “some kind of tire fire,” Gary. “SOME KIND of tire fire!”
*CHOP Shop. Friggin autocorrect

Now a round-up of people who recognize they just ended one of the great post-season games on a wrongly called checked swing:

1) Neutral umpire-auditor:
2) Ex-pitcher, Braves announcer, briefly a Dodger Reliever:
3) Dodger dugout reporter until 2020, whom they desperately tried to keep

1) Ok, so with the help of the newspapers and my XXL and otherwise empty head, let’s ID these guys in this stunning film of NYY coach/infielder Frank Crosetti’s.

First off: Old Timers Day was actually September 28, 1947 - as detailed in @NYDailyNews
2) A couple of easy ID’s to start. This is Jimmie Foxx, at that time the second greatest HR hitter ever and besides Ruth and Mel Ott, the only member of the 500 HR club. Fans probably thought “Old Timer? He was the Phillies’ 1Bman two years ago!”
3) Next out of the dugout, another recent face - The Mechanical Man, 2nd Baseman Charlie Gehringer of the Tigers. 7 100-RBI seasons but only one 20-homer campaign, and retired just five years.

1) For the 40 days starting 9/11/01, I was on the streets of NYC as a radio reporter for KFWB in LA and a commentator for ABC, covering the nightmare. Some of it was archived, some of it is worth listening to again. I'll post clips throughout the day. This is from KFWB, 9/14/01
2) Here again, live on KFWB News Radio, 9/15/01. Some police friends of mine sneaked me behind the lines to look at the surreal, abandoned movie-set quality of the evacuated city:
3) Starting on 9/18/01 I joined ABC Radio's nightly live special reports. On the 20th, I told of the heartbreaking beauty of the message sent by the Captain of NYFD Company 40 to his community. 343 Firefighters died, 12 from Company 40. My grandfather had been a NYC firefighter:

1) Never heard of @whoisaddison before today. Don’t care. But not only did she have more journalism training than virtually every other talent @ufc on site event coverage, but she wasn’t hired as a journalist. She was hired by UFC to promote UFC on PPV packaged by UFC
2) If you actually reacted with “What? She’s only well-known for dancing or singing or whatever” wait’ll you hear about “The NFL Today” on CBS.

From 1975 to 1984 it was hosted by Phyllis George, who was not only Miss America 1971 but actually had a DEGREE in BEING Miss America
3) HER experience was as…co-host of Candid Camera.

And she was no better and no worse than anybody else who did that job.

Phyllis missed 1979 and was replaced by Jayne Kennedy, who WASN’T Miss America (she only reached the Top 10). She was also in an early leaked sex tape.
