1/ Reading my recent threads you can conclude "OMG it's so bad, how can we prevail"
I get that. I'm describing the rotted structure & bad systems b/c if it weren't so rotten, the GOP couldn't have gotten away with this evil.
2/ Put another way: if we fix the bad structure, this won't happen in the same way (maybe at all). It helps to be a systems thinker here, and since COVID has made most of you amateur epidemiologists, we can compare contagions
3/ The virus spreads in a certain way, when we understand how the virus works, we can slow or stop the mechanisms of spread and that will prevent damage.
As Fauci said, the virus tells us what we need to do to prevent contagion.
So: masks, 6 feet, good ventilation etc
4/ Stop the vector of disease, the disease will slow, maybe even die out. Systems are everywhere, structure is built in, but most people need to be trained to see them.
Some see structure naturally (like me), some are incapable of ever seeing them (#literalists)
5/ 2020 is a hellscape because the structures were rotten, not because of fate, it wasn't inevitable.
Fixing SCOTUS, fixing FoxNews & Facebook, is like wearing masks and washing hands.
6/ I'll describe the theory behind this later (I've clunkily & temporarily called it the Anthropic-Darwin Principle, which basically operationalizes the relationship b/w structure & function) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthropic…
192.02/ So today is #ZayinAdar and Saint Patrick's Day during Ramadan. What could go wrong?
192.03/ There's a resonance in having a fast that commemorates a community sacrifice for soldiers fighting a defensive war against raging antisemites. #TaanitEsther
191.02/ Last #MotzeiShabbatMovieNight of the season. How to top last week, and with a movie my youngest hasn't seen yet? "Fletch (1985)" en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fletch_(f…
191.03/ I agree with Prof. Simkovich, re: the Oscar guy.
Also, I see people wrestling to make sense of his convoluted phrasing, but I'm not inclined to give the benefit of the doubt to a declaration that inherently refuses to give others the same benefit.
190.02/ #MotzeiShabbatMovieNight continues, 2 weeks left before we change the clocks so climbing to the finale. It's "Raising Arizona (1987)" night! I don't need to explain how great it is, right? en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raising_A…
190.03/ #ChochmatNashim for #Vayakhel #Pekudei 5783 (last year; this year it's Vayakhel-Shekalim)

189.02/ #MotzeiShabbatMovieNight continues. Tonight, the sequel to Knives Out: "Glass Onion (2022)." Both movies are great and this one has one of the best portrayals of the vibe of the pandemic/2020. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glass_Oni…
189.03/ Watching the Mets preseason game, listening to Gary and Ron in the booth... that's the first sign of Spring in my house. What a joy. #LGM
188.02/ #MotzeiShabbasMovieNight this week was "The Freshman (1990)" - a very underrated comedy - because my oldest was home for Shabbas and he is a first year in college. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fresh…
188.03/ #ChochmatNashim for #Tetzaveh 5783 (last year) (#Zachor & #Purim in there as well).
