Eventually this (Farm Bill) will come back to destroy the urban middle and lower middle class via sharply higher food prices and shortages. 1/18

For sure, the agricultural sector in India needs deep rooted reforms. And i mean reforms, not merely cutting the legs from under the farmers and poor in India, which is the explicit intention of the 3 Farm Sector Bills and..2/18

#ISupportBharatBandh #BharatBandh
..the administrative announcement removing onions, pulses, rapeseed oils and other essentials from the Essential Commodities Act purview. 3/18

#ISupportBharatBandh #BharatBandh
1. Why?

Why did Modi government move with such alacrity on the dismantling of APMC (for sure, this Bill will eventually lead to the demise of APMC system, good or bad it has provided vital protection to the farmers in states where it has been honestly implemented) 4/18
The answer is simple - the govt realized that one of the heaviest commitment of funds is to purchase of agricultural produce at the MSP.

So if you dismantle the APMC, then you can pretend that you have deregulated the markets n don't have to purchase any produce. 5/18
2. What's the long term implication?

The MSP has formed a safety layer for farmers. Has it been universally applied? No, it hasn't been. Has the APMC been fault-free? No. But this Bill doesn't improve their functioning nor does it address their flaws or expand coverage. 6/18
It simply says "let markets take care".A philosophy similar to their attitude about Railways. We all know how well the "markets" have functioned in such cases (Enron n California energy markets, privatizn fiasco of British Railways, privatizn n decimation of US Railways, etc) 7/18
In case of APMC, MSP, etc it has made India self sufficient in food grains. FCI godowns r overflowing with foodgrains. Modi सरकार has benefitted from this procurement since the free/ subsidized foodgrains is the ONLY DAMNED THING that's kept people alive in this pandemic. 8/18
3. Keep your eye on the ball.

Like in the case of CAA, the original legislation wasn't the entire story. The real poison was in the administrative stuff that was the logical next steps, viz NRC and the modified and poisoned NPR. 9/18
Similarly, here the APMC legislation was accompanied by two other Bills, which will put small and marginal farmers into servitude, and the de-notification of essential goods like cooking oil pulses and onions from Essential Commodities Act. 10/18
This now allows anyone to hoard any quantity of these items without any restrictions.

4. What comes next?

The dismantling of the agricultural protections will be invariably followed up by the dismantling of MSP n eventually, the PDS which is the real intention of d govt ..11/18
..since that's the ONLY way the govt can remain solvent.

These steps will follow the current Bills as surely as night follows the day n NRC followed the CAA. It's the same gaslighting. It's the same set of stupid lies. It's the same bait and switch. 12/18
It's the same subterfuge. It's the same chicanery.

5. What comes after that?

Wide fluctuations in food prices. Regional imbalances. Catastrophe for farmers. Wide changes in cropping patterns. And eventual erosion of food security for India as a nation. 13/18
Right now the urban dwellers r clueless n indifferent. But eventually this will come back to destroy d urban middle n lower middle class via sharply higher food prices n shortages.

Be realistic enough to know dat India can't sustain 65%of its population on 15%of its GDP. 14/18
So consolidation of agricultural holdings is a must, which are the most fragmented amongst all agrarian nations in the world.

Simultaneously, it's also true that this government's method of doing this is all wrong, and the timing couldn't be more cruel. 15/18
As India had been developing, more manufacturing n services jobs would have automatically pulled people away from agriculture n into other sectors. Over a longer period of time, as India transitioned to a middle income nation, d dependence on agriculture would have reduced. 16/18
But to do this now,wen there r no jobs n millions have been newly rendered unemployed n wen poverty is rising,is cruel n unconscionable.

Agricultural sector overhaul being undertaken now is d equivalent of badly designed/implemented GST that's now d bane of india's economy.17/18

"Pinarayi Vijayan, when asked about the Ram Temple shilanyas and Priyanka Gandhi’s stand, had this to say, "“I am not surprised by Priyanka Gandhi’s stand in this matter. The Congress party’s stand during Rajiv Gandhi and then Narasimha Rao’s regime are all part of history.
If Congress had a definite stand on secularism, the country would not have been facing such a situation today,”.

I am glad he is not surprised. Politicians should not be surprised at tactics and conveniences of other political leaders.
We, as voters on the other hand, have a right to b surprised, dismayed, angry or disappointed.

But then he says something I find funny-His reference to History and that if Congress had a definite stand on secularism, the country would not have been facing such a situation today.

For the last few days I have been bursting RSS fake propaganda on Twitter and FB both. Now I am more and more convinced why people deserve RSS in power.

Who are these people spreading RSS fake narrative? 1/13
They are AAP supporters, AIMIM supporters, some "liberals" and a group of Muslims. (Read clearly, A GROUP of Muslims).

I can imagine what this must be doing to the Muslims who support Congress, those Muslims must be going through too much pain right now. So here it is. 2/13
AAP spreading RSS narrative against Congress is understandable, because they are RSS. Why a bunch of "liberals" doing that? +AIMIM supporters n a group of Muslims? Why?

First of all, you don't care about evidence. That itself is help to RSS. Your ignorance is bliss for RSS. 3/13

This is height of moral bankruptcy when a country bites the hand that feeds them and worships the oppressor, demands the opposition to be perfect and protects a inept govt which has failed in every front. This is much more than politics. 1/3
We are not here because we made a bad political choice but we are here because we crossed every limit in moral bankruptcy. The bad political choice is the outcome of that. It's not eyes that are blind, but the hearts. 2/3
We must try to change hearts and that's the ultimate solution. Or else it will become our vicious circle and the oppressor will keep coming back stronger and stronger. 3/3

“How can we expect righteousness to prevail when there is hardly anyone willing to give himself up individually to a righteous cause. Such a fine, sunny day, and I have to go, but what does my death matter, if through us, thousands of people are awakened and stirred to action?1/6
The real damage is done by those millions who want to 'survive'. The ones who just want to be left in peace. Those who don’t want their little lives disturbed by anything bigger than themselves. Those with no sides and no causes. 2/6
Those who won’t take measure of their own strength, for fear of antagonizing their own weakness. Those who don’t like to make waves—or enemies. Those for whom freedom, honour, truth, and principles are only literature. Those who live small, mate small, die small. 3/6

My neighbour broke into my house last night n smashed my 56" television set. He now refuses to leave n claims he owns this part of the house.

My eyes turned RED hot with rage! I retaliated by removing him from our building WhatsApp group n also blocked him on FB n Twitter. (1/5)
My pet dog Arban 🐕‍🦺 was very impressed by the sheer SUDDENNESS & UNEXPECTED nature of my move. He wagged his tail in approval & called it a befitting reply! 💪

No, he called the cops instead. (2/5)
But I told the cops in a very clear & firm voice that, "No one has intruded my house nor has any one captured my living room."

Puzzled by my statement, they asked,"what's the fuss all about then? Why have I banned my neighbour from the WhatsApp group? Who smashed my 56" TV?(3/5)

Is Modi's image more important than India's image n army?

1st the govt said there are no Indian soldier missing. Then the Chinese gov released 10 of our soldiers n it exposed the lies. Every neighbour country came to know that Indian govt is scared n lying through their teeth.
No wonder even Nepal deployed its army on Indian border which they never did before. The world is watching.

If the Chinese had not released them we would have never known about them. Our govt washed off their hands from the responsibility of getting them back.
The MEA issued a statement admitting that the Chinese incursion indeed took place. This was in contradiction to PM's statement.

An hour ago this page existed. Now it's not there anymore. ImageImage
