1/n I'm Sahil Gupta and I run Spase, spase.io, and I can handle abuse but this is just a level of bullshit that can't go uncorrected.
2/n What pushed me over the edge is this. Mrs Jello LLC, you've fucked with the wrong guy.
4/n For the last 10 months I've been dealing with this entity Mrs Jello LLC, who owns spase.com. A simple Google search for Mrs Jello LLC will make who they are and their business model very clear.
6/n My company Spase builds 3D and AR models. We're live at spase.io, and I believe we have the legitimate rights to spase.com.
7/n So last year I reach out to the owner of spase.com, Mrs Jello LLC. They put out a five figure number. They're professionals and what they do, whatever it is you want to call it.
8/n A few months later we reach out again, this time from an intern who happens to live near the domain registration address. A few messages back and forth. No deal. We consider filing a dispute (UDRP) because we know we have the rights, but we still try the route of kindness.
9/n We handwrite a letter to them, even order and deliver a cake from the finest Kosher bakery in town, knowing their email was at jerusalem.com. We never hear back. Apparently Mrs Jello LLC thinks they can have their cake and eat it too.
10/n Then we file the domain dispute (UDRP). The UDRP was invented precisely to deal with domain squatters.
11/n For the dispute, I write a few sentences. Thinking it would be obvious for the arbiters to make a decision. Then the Jello lawyer gets involved. Mr. Stevan Lieberman. He writes a response of 7 pages. He's a professional.
12/n So I have to counter, and reply to every single one of his points.

13/n Just to be clear, Michal Lichtman actually committed perjury by saying she was threatened.
14/n The lawyer then tries to get my reply thrown out because the pdf had a "virus" 
15/n Then I actually look into it. And turns out the "virus" is just an untrustworthy link in the pdf. Guess the link? spase.com. GTFO.

17/n Weeks go by. Domain arbiters still end up throwing out my reply, because they don't accept secondary replies. And without my counter, it's my original few sentences against 7 pages. The arbiters deny the complaint. And say I'm the domain hijacker.
18/n I've had enough. Maybe another lawyer can help me out. Maybe a lawyer with more integrity than a piece of jello.
19/n Their fake news story is like "tech company tries to kick old lady off her dot com." This is "giant company with net assets over 40 million dollars (public info), owns spase.com and attacks a startup."
20/n I can't speak for the late Mr. Igal Lichtman, but in a sense, who can speak for a man who makes money selling domains like penis dot org and vodka dot net.
21/n And I'm in no position to criticize the UDRP arbiters, but their decision is cementing the exact behavior it was designed to prevent.
22/n It's a very simple idea, it's called not doing the opposite of what you said.
23/n For future founders: if you file a domain dispute, put all your arguments up front. Don't expect a chance to reply. Make sure you satisfy all 3 points: your rights, their lack of rights, and their bad faith registration. I hope you don't have to go through what Spase did.
24/n Pls share/retweet. So other startups learn from this. I could have kept my mouth shut, but this cannot happen again. Mrs Jello and Mr. Lieberman cannot get away with this.
