Owen appears to be a dishonest & manipulative person who's 'following' definitely has cultish features... Used to listen sometimes, but he went hard in on another guy's wife, & it made look for people who were against him, & I found A LOT.
Resources:
^^Link is "E. Scorpio" from youtube, mostly expounding on how Owen used his following to collect money to buy land--but then moved the goal posts--and bought different land for his own purposes.
"Texas Goat Radio Show" has been doing service by exposing him bit by bit:

"Milker Nation" has done a ton to expose him, but most prominently, a "10 hrs Live documentary" going over a mega-fuck-ton of evidence:

If you're getting excited or angry at "Rich Men North of Richmond", just remember, there's a good chance that it's all been planned & designed to trigger emotional investment--polarize--& maybe even get you to grab your wallet for one reason or another.
I caught wind of it because I saw an account called "gravitysrainbow" complaining that the singer/songwriter had a Playlist about Israel's involvement in the 9/11 spectacle from 2001.
This is BIG Evidence of a polarisation push.
"US Conspiracy folks" vs "those sleepy Normies"
Is becoming a popular line by which to divide folks lately.
10 years ago--talking about jews was a guaranteed taboo/blacklist topic--but now, it's much more socially acceptable to bring it up... And of course some call it antisemitism while others call it "hard truths".
One of the more common tactics is called "Paralleling". They know they cannot hide or destroy the truth--so--they use large sections of the truth to create what appears to be an identical narrative--but--they omit &/or change significant details to protect their interests,
and then they grease the skids with lots of money and media...
The "parallel" story is given to talking heads and "alt-media experts" and it's pushed upon the public as "the truth".
This creates a tasty distraction from the less linear "real truth" which is harder to find now,
& harder to put together into a narrative without the complete set of facts which have been omitted & hidden.
Typically the "parallel" has elements of dramatic production value. This captures peoples attention and also often hinges on people's desire for drama and disagreement.
I'd say this is a good example of how they betray and demoralize people.
It's not just on one side or the other. But this is a good example of them building trust, and then demoralizing someone, who's trusted in their false authority.
In the 1st video he's arrogant and condescending about his confidence in their 'science'--AND--he's willing to use his "US vs THEM" attitude... Convincing himself, and attacking others.
He's on the 'smart guys team' and everyone should smarten up fast. Or keep be a schmuck.
But in the 2nd video--deep in his heart--he knows he's been had. He trusted & supported "THEIR SIDE", & then the media outlets that had offered him comfort at 1st ended up turning on him, making him feel unsafe. Even 'blamed'. "Now I'm a SUPER-SPREADER?!"
I use so many dashes--it's not even funny--and I know that it's a problem. I'll actually go back--edit out a ton of dashes--and then sometimes I'll even put a few back.
And god-forbid I have to try'n maneuver my--"dashes in the middle of the sentence to make a point"--type sen-
