Delighted to speak to my friend, PM Mahinda Rajapaksa. We reviewed the dynamic India-Sri Lanka bilateral relationship including areas of development partnership, economic engagement, tourism, education, culture, regional & international issues of mutual interest. @PresRajapaksa
Glad to announce $15 million grant to promote Buddhist ties between India & Sri Lanka. Lord Buddha’s teachings have continued to guide us for ages. India would be delighted to host Buddhist pilgrims from Sri Lanka on the first inaugural flight to Kushinagar International Airport.
India and Sri Lanka are committed to strengthen the economic partnership through enhanced trade and investment & early realisation of infrastructure & connectivity projects.
We will also continue and strengthen cooperation in defence and security to fight the dual menace of terrorism as well as drug trafficking. @PresRajapaksa

जब मेरी पार्टी ने मुझे गुजरात के मुख्यमंत्री के रूप में शपथ लेने का आदेश दिया था, उस समय गुजरात अनेक चुनौतियां का सामना कर रहा था। राज्य के लोगों के लिए वो परीक्षा की घड़ी थी। उसी वर्ष राज्य में एक विनाशकारी भूकंप आया था। चक्रवात, सूखे के कारण लाखों लोगों का जीवन अस्त-व्यस्त था। गुजरात में राजनीतिक अस्थिरता थी। और ऐसे समय में मुझे गुजरात की सेवा के लिए चुना गया। संकटों ने हमारा हौसला नहीं तोड़ा बल्कि हमें एक सशक्त, समृद्ध और नवनिर्मित गुजरात बनाने की प्रेरणा शक्ति दी।Image
जब मैं मुख्यमंत्री बना- तो मेरी मां हीराबेन ने मुझसे कहा था कि मैं तुम्हारे काम को तो ज्यादा नहीं जानती, लेकिन मेरी दो बातें हमेशा याद रखना। पहला- गरीबों के लिए काम करना और दूसरा कभी रिश्वत मत लेना। मुझे अपनी मां से मिली ये सीख अमूल्य थी। मैंने संकल्प किया कि हम जनता-जनार्दन की सेवा में सर्वश्रेष्ठ प्रयास करने की कोशिश करेंगे और सरकार का हर काम, अंत्योदय की भावना से प्रेरित होगा।

It was in very testing circumstances that my Party entrusted me with the responsibility of being Gujarat CM. The state was suffering due to a massive earthquake in the same year. The preceding years had witnessed a super cyclone, successive droughts and political instability. Those challenges strengthened the resolve to serve people and rebuild Gujarat with renewed vigour and hope.Image
When I took oath as Chief Minister, I remember my Mother telling me - I do not have much understanding of your work but I only seek two things. First, you will always work for the poor and second, you will never take a bribe. I also told people that whatever I do will be with the best intent and will be inspired by a vision to serve the very last person in the queue.

Addressed the BRICS Summit Plenary session on ‘Strengthening Multilateralism, Economic-Financial Affairs, and Artificial Intelligence.’ Focused on how to make the BRICS platform even more effective in this increasingly multipolar world. Also gave a few suggestions which are explained in the thread below.Image

First, emphasised on improving our own systems so that our credibility is boosted when we call for reformed multilateralism. This is important considering economic cooperation within BRICS has been steadily progressing. While sanctioning projects through the BRICS NDB, there must be a focus on demand-driven decision-making, long-term financial sustainability and maintaining a healthy credit rating.
Second, we can work together to fulfill specific expectations and aspirations nations of the Global South can have from BRICS. For example, BRICS Agricultural Research Platform has been established in India which can be a medium for sharing best practices in agri-biotech, precision farming and climate change adaptation. Also proposed creating a BRICS Science and Research Repository that can also benefit the countries of the Global South.

Today marks fifty years since one of the darkest chapters in India’s democratic history, the imposition of the Emergency. The people of India mark this day as Samvidhan Hatya Diwas. On this day, the values enshrined in the Indian Constitution were set aside, fundamental rights were suspended, press freedom was extinguished and several political leaders, social workers, students and ordinary citizens were jailed. It was as if the Congress Government in power at that time placed democracy under arrest! #SamvidhanHatyaDiwas
No Indian will ever forget the manner in which the spirit of our Constitution was violated, the voice of Parliament muzzled and attempts were made to control the courts. The 42nd Amendment is a prime example of their shenanigans. The poor, marginalised and downtrodden were particularly targeted, including their dignity insulted. #SamvidhanHatyaDiwas
We salute every person who stood firm in the fight against the Emergency! These were the people from all over India, from all walks of life, from diverse ideologies who worked closely with each other with one aim: to protect India’s democratic fabric and to preserve the ideals for which our freedom fighters devoted their lives. It was their collective struggle that ensured that the then Congress Government had to restore democracy and call for fresh elections, which they badly lost. #SamvidhanHatyaDiwas

संसद के दोनों सदनों से वक्फ (संशोधन) विधेयक और मुसलमान वक्फ (निरसन) विधेयक का पारित होना देश के लिए एक ऐतिहासिक क्षण है। यह सामाजिक-आर्थिक न्याय, पारदर्शिता और समावेशी विकास की हमारी सामूहिक प्रतिबद्धता को सामने लाता है। यह विशेष रूप से उन लोगों के लिए फायदेमंद होगा, जो लंबे समय से हाशिये पर रहे हैं, जिनकी आवाज अनसुनी रही और जिन्हें अवसरों से वंचित रहना पड़ा है।

दशकों से वक्फ व्यवस्था में पारदर्शिता और जवाबदेही की कमी नजर आ रही थी। इससे मुख्य रूप से हमारी मुस्लिम माताओं-बहनों, गरीब और पसमांदा मुसलमान भाई-बहनों के हितों को बहुत नुकसान हो रहा था। अब संसद द्वारा पारित विधेयक पारदर्शिता को बढ़ाने के साथ-साथ लोगों के अधिकारों की रक्षा में भी मददगार बनेगा।
