How interesting that @Mermaids_Gender agrees with me that no one is born in the wrong body and kids should play and dress however they like (i.e., gender nonconformity isn't a sign of "being trans"). So then, why on earth would any child ever transition? Is there a reason? No. 1/
Everyone's body is what it is. Everyone's clothing, personalities, & preferences are what they are. The domains of sex & gender are never in conflict: they do not rely on each other. Girls can like rough play. Boys can like sparkles & dolls. Let's go back to that basic notion. 2/
Once we accept that basic premise (thanks, @Mermaids_Gender), it's easy to see "transition" for what it is: A set of cosmetic choices. No one's body is wrong. If someone dislikes their body so badly that they want to undertake major changes, they need therapy to sort it out. 3/
Gender dysphoria, likewise, comes into sharper focus for what it is -- a psychological condition in which someone is very distressed by their body. A psychological condition. Psychological conditions are not appropriately treated with hormones and cosmetic surgeries. 4/
While I'd never tell an adult what to do with their body (I believe adult transition is not a good solution because the evidence isn't there to support it), the fact that transition is purely cosmetic rules it out for all children, in all contexts. 5/
That any reputable doctor ever prescribed sterilizing & bone-destroying puberty blockers or cross-sex hormones to any child, or removed healthy organs is unconscionable. I'd like to see them sued and punished for the reckless damage they caused. 6/
These doctors ignored evidence that the majority of GNC children would grow up to be healthy gay and lesbian adults ***if only they were left alone to develop normally and well-supported to be who they are***. 7/
These doctors ignored evidence that the huge wave of "gender dysphoric" preteens and teens represented a new phenomenon -- not of "gender" that needed transition, but of psychological distress that needed sensitive and supportive therapy. 8/
The media, of course, jumped on board these stories because they generated clicks. Who doesn't want to click on a tear-jerking story about a kid who is "really" the other sex? What did the parents & schools do? What did the neighbors say? Did they have any friends? 9/
The voyeuristic sideshow of "a boy in a dress" (when really, kids should be free to dress as they wish, without judgment) got wrapped up in 21st century Wokeness: The "correct" virtue-signalling response was to accept these medical treatments & name changes without question. 10/
"Wokeness" and falling in line with virtue-signalling, because so many people fear being called ignorant bigots or hateful transphobes, ensured that ***these important discussions about the wisdom of these life-changing treatments on children could not be had.*** 11/
All respect to those who insisted that the discussions *must be had.* This obvious point is finally being recognized. You don't sterilize kids, disrupt their growth, alter their appearance, change names/pronouns, unless there's strong evidence in favor: Evidence we never had. 12/

For whoever needs to hear this: Herd immunity does control disease, yes. Hiwever, herd immunity is _caused_ by vaccines, and is not an _alternative_ to vaccines. Rampant infection doesn’t cause herd immunity. New people are being born into the herd all the time.
One example is measles. Before we had the vaccine, nearly everyone got measles and yet there was no “herd immunity.” More people were always being born, eventually getting measles. A certain number died. This was a big enough problem that a vaccine was very desirable.
The vaccine (until we reached a critical mass of anti-vaxxers, messing it up) is what caused “herd immunity” to the extent we rarely saw measles at all, even in people too vulnerable to be vaccinated. That’s herd immunity.

Or another view. An orientation involves the type of human being you’d want a partnership with (if you built a relationship). A fetish involves a narcissistic obsession with getting off. (You need X,Y,Z and any other people are props or helpers.) psychologytoday.com/gb/blog/fetish…
People with orientations and fetishes can both have meaningless sex. (Fine if consensual.) People with orientations have the option/ability to build a meaningful long term relationship with a human that (often) feels missing in a fetish-based sexual relationship.
These aren’t absolutes. Everyone without fetishes doesn’t have an amazing relationship; everyone with fetishes doesn’t treat their partners as a prop to help them achieve orgasm. Just saying that a person’s interest in the other human can help determine whether it’s a “fetish.”

A major problem, which muddles our public and private discussions, and even our own thinking on the issues: conflating sex with gender, or treating them as synonyms.
Sex is the type of body you were born with. You have the type organized for making large immobile gametes, or the type organized for small mobile gametes. You will always have that type of body no matter what you do with it, cosmetically. You will always be the same sex.
The sex binary is real and has been real for billions of years of evolution. There are a tiny number of people with disorders of sexual development (formerly called “intersex” — which is a bad name for it, because they still have a sex).

You know the biggest problem we have right now? That people are shouted down/cancelled/blocked/accused of being evil or hateful for ***wanting to have conversations about things that matter*** and ***expressing different points of view.***
I butt up against it when I say “sex exists” but it comes up in all sorts of other conversations about race, politics, social policy, economics, you name it. There’s a limited range of allowed opinion in any social group, and if you deviate from it, you are OUT. You are BAD.
It’s not all just on the “other side” — it’s to a large extent on people who agree with us on most things, however mindlessly. Try telling a Biden Democrat that the polling data indicates that the primary votes were manipulated. “Conspiracy theorist.” And blocked.

Is it possible to stop talking about the current cultural madness as “extreme left”? It’s not “left” at all. The left is built on reason, critical thinking, analysis, science, in service to the general welfare. The “faux left” nonsense serves the ruling elite. It’s a distraction.
A bunch of ninnies screaming at each other & claiming certain things can’t be discussed (sex/gender, racism) are a perfect target for the right (or the cartoonish “faux right”) to turn the “left” into the boogeymen they need in order to win elections.
If you really care about gender nonconforming people, racism, or anything else, the tradition of the left would be to find reasonable, helpful ways to address real-life issues (eg, the water in Flint). It’s not the tradition of the left to shut down discussions. So stop it.

No one is in the wrong body.
As if this needs an explanation: No one is "in" a body. Everyone _is_ their body. There is no other body that should have been or could have been -- it just is.
Even if it were possible (and it is not possible) to medically identify someone as having a "female" brain in a "male" body or vice versa, that would not change the reality of "This person's body just is how it is."
