1. After Jallianwala Bagh massacre where the British brutally killed over 1000 Indians, he went to the Bagh and collected in a glass bottle the blood soaked mud of the Bagh and prayed to it daily. This acted as a reminder to him of what his ultimate goal was.
2. He was a stage actor in college which later helped him escape from Lahore after he assassinated JP Saunders. Durga Devi acted as his wife and Sukhdev as his domestic help as they boarded a train to escape to Calcutta deceiving the 400 policemen at the Station.
3. He coined the iconic phrase, "Inquilab Zindabad" which he shouted while he and Batukeshwar Dutt threw bombs at the Central Legislative Assembly in Delhi. Later, this phrase became the war cry of the Indian Independence Movement.
4. He was influenced by the October Revolution, which started his passion for reading revolutionary literature, a passion which lasted till the very end. In fact Bhagat Singh read approx. 300 books in his imprisonment of 731 days.
5. To prevent a public reaction, he was hanged 11 hours in advance and was secretly cremated on the banks of the Sutlej. The Prison Warden later recounted, "I have seen dozens being hung. But I have never seen anyone embrace death with such courage and fortitude."
