Mentor: M is for Mindset. Invest in and plan your mentorship. #TWS2020
E is for Educate. Check your implicit bias. Educate yourself on this history of the field, social justice and environmental racism, your mentee, and then educate your institution as well. #TWS2020
N is for Nuture. You must encourage and challenge your mentees. This is how you help them feel like they belong and that they are unique. #TWS2020
T is for Transparent. Share your struggles with your mentees, as it helps them to feel more comfortable, confident, and that they belong. #TWS2020
O is for Open Communication. Set clear goals, expectations, roles and responsibilities. Whether you are there for academic and/or emotional support, this needs to be clear from the beginning. #TWS2020
R is for Resources. Help your mentees find scholarships, jobs, etc. Take advantage of other support services and connect them to other mentors, as it each of us can only provide one perspective and it takes multitudes. #TWS2020
