Chris Wallace says he has not shared any of the questions with the presidential debate commission or with either candidate or campaign.
No handshake between Trump & Biden due to the coronavirus — is this a debate first?
Topic #1 is ACB
Trump’s answer about ACB never mentioned ACB’s name. He did mention Merrick Garland by name tho.
Trump referenced RBG’s 2016 quote that presidents are elected to four years, not three years.
Biden: “I am the Democratic Party right now.”
Trump quips that he’s debating Chris Wallace instead of Biden.
Joe Biden is doing what he did in his debate with Paul Ryan where he chuckles at his opponent’s answers.
Trump doing that thing where he constantly interrupts with little digs — seems to be throwing Biden off a bit.
Biden refused to answer Chris Wallace’s question about whether he would pack the Supreme Court.
Biden to Trump on the coronavirus: “It is what it is because you are who you are.”
Trump says that Biden shouldn’t trust China’s numbers and says (as he’s said multiple times tonight) that Biden opposed the China travel ban. Trump said the coronavirus is China’s fault.
The debate has been going on for half an hour. One hour to go.
Trump: “I brought back Big Ten football.”
Trump says he paid millions of dollars in federal income taxes in 2016 & 2017.
Trump going after Hunter Biden. Joe Biden says the allegations are "discredited." Lots of talking over eachother. The debate threatened to veer into an interesting debate over Ukraine but Chris Wallace moved on. Wallace says Trump has been talking over Biden more than vice versa.
Charlottesville Debate
The debate has been going on for one hour. Half an hour left.
Biden says that there is systemic injustice in law enforcement and that there are a few bad apples.
Joe Biden & Chris Wallace both acting shocked that Trump is arguing like Trump throughout the debate
Trump says that Antifa might overthrow Joe Biden.
Chris Wallace bailed Biden out on the police endorsement question.
Climate Change
I don't think Trump & Biden like eachother
Biden promises to create "hard good jobs."
Wallace: Answer his final question.

Biden: The final question is - I can't remember which of all his rantings -

Wallace: <Laughs> I'm having a little trouble myself.

Even if you think Trump is being annoying as hell you shouldn't side w/ someone like that if you're moderating.
Overall, a very odd debate. Somehow even less substantive than the Clinton-Trump debate.
Let's do that again. Then again.

DJI and Chinese drone dominance in the United States is a serious problem — one that some policymakers & lawmakers have unsuccessfully tried to solve for years. And now you have a former Obama attorney general throwing her support behind China in its fight against the Pentagon…
It’s long been my view that leaders who hold important positions of trust in the federal government — especially in law enforcement & the national security arena — should be banned by law from doing future work for foreign foes (like China) as part of their agreement to serve.

In his new book, discredited dossier author Chris Steele is still trying to push the baseless & debunked claim that the Hunter Biden laptop was part of a Russian scheme. Nowhere does he admit the laptop was real & that Russia had nothing to do with it. The man is a total fraud. Image

Interesting that, among the eight folks Steele praises for “excellent investigative work” & who he says he draws upon in his book, two were directly involved in the bullshit Hunter Biden laptop letter— Sipher as a signer & Bertrand as author of the Politico article publishing it. Image
Steele claims “private individuals” funded “dozens of detailed reports” about alleged Russian influence efforts to help Trump in 2020, with Steele claiming he sent the reports to “well-connected” people in the U.S., & he “presumes” the reports made it to the U.S. intel community. Image

The interview was fine. Frankly, they did not challenge Ta-Nehisi Coates nearly enough over his glaring omissions & ridiculous framing. But Coates is deemed untouchable, so even the lightest pushback pointing out his obvious biases & questionable motivations causes a meltdown.
I knew the new book by Ta-Nehisi Coates was deeply flawed & biased against Israel (CBS had a meltdown because one of its anchors had the temerity to ask Coates about it) but I didn’t realize the book *doesn’t even mention* Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran, etc. LOL

Jake Sullivan defended the release of Bout in 2022 by downplaying the threat he posed, saying “we can manage those challenges” & quipping “there is no shortage of arms traffickers & mercenaries in Russia.” Bout is now selling weapons to the same Houthis attacking American ships. Image
