I heard @SamSeder make this argument in a recent Ring of Fire podcast as well. And I agree. This is the first time since I became a journalist that I'm publicly expressing whom I'm voting for. I'm voting for Biden in NY for the exact reasons Kate states here. We must stop fascism
@SamSeder I've tweeted, even recently, that I'm voting for (writing in) whomever the hell I want. That was before I thought about the overall vote count as a factor in election theft. So I've changed my mind.
If you've followed me for more than a couple months you'll know that I've reported many times on Biden's shady connections, including to oil & gas, his corporate donors, etc. I don't like him! He sucks and punches left! He won't support M4A or a real GND. But he's no fascist.
And related, I think your money will have the most impact if it goes to progressive GOTV efforts. Here's a thread with some good suggestions:
Glenn is speaking at "Freedom Fest" alongside stars such as Betsy DeVos!
Sponsors include the Tea Party Patriots, AIER (recently employed a white nationalist), DonorsTrust (biggest funder of white nationalism), and Koch's AFP. freedomfest.com/complete-lineu…
Here's a recent story of mine about DonorsTrust funding white nationalist hate groups. Not sure I'd be comfortable appearing at an event it sponsored. exposedbycmd.org/2022/06/07/buf…
More on the event where Glenn is a featured speaker.
Objectively I think Biden not running would benefit the Dem Party. Hard to imagine a less inspiring leader, especially in the face of a fascist right eviscerating democracy as quickly as possible.
Almost anyone in the Dem 2020 primary would have been a more effective president. Voters accepted the narrative from Dem leadership that Biden “gets things done” and can unite the country, and here we are.
I’m truly curious if there are any credible political scientists or historians who don’t think Biden has failed his party at this point.
On Dec. 4, Glenn Greenwald spoke about independent media to the Mises Institute, a right-wing Austrian economics group with ties to Charles Koch and that has members who are neo-Confederates. mises.org/library/critic…
Among the Mises academics are Thomas DiLorenzo, Marshall De Rosa, & Donald Livingston, all neo-Confederates who previously worked with the League of the South, and Donald Livingston. Here's my 2018 piece on them. thenation.com/article/archiv…
Re: Koch ties, @UnKochCampus laid them all out in a report on Koch's role in white supremacy. Numerous Mises scholars have taught in Koch-funded economics programs at universities. unkochmycampus.org/los-ch2-part-2…
I guess when the Trump era breaks your brain you naturally gravitate towards promoting home use of horse dewormers for humans and other similar things bc you’re a medical professional.
It really is Hitler-esque authoritarianism. Private companies MUST allow me to peddle whatever dangerous intestinal treatments I want to my millions of followers!!
SCOOP: At least six state lawmakers affiliated with business lobbying group ALEC were recently active members of the neo-Confederate group Sons of Confederate Veterans, which puts up monuments to the Confederacy and distorts the history of the Civil War. exposedbycmd.org/2021/07/08/ale…
ALEC helps lawmakers & lobbyists write model bills. It doesn't have a model bill on monuments, but ALEC CEO Lisa Nelson signed a letter last year approving of Trump's executive order imposing harsh penalties on those who damage monuments. exposedbycmd.org/2021/07/08/ale…
These six southern state legislators have either been ALEC members or have attended ALEC annual meetings. The group keeps its membership secret and claims they're no longer members, but pols often re-register just before annual meetings. exposedbycmd.org/2021/07/08/ale…
The Federalist is known for publishing defenses of Trump, Covid conspiracy theories, & racist posts.
Unsurprisingly, its donors include Richard Uihlein, who helped bankroll the Jan. 6 rallies, and DonorsTrust, which funds white nationalist hate groups. exposedbycmd.org/2021/06/15/rev…
