Some are out of town, but others didn't vote as a statement.
1) Last month, Nexstar Media Group Inc — the largest owner of local tv stations in the US — announced its intention to purchase its largest rival, TEGNA.
2) For this $6.2 billion acquisition to happen, Nexstar needs the approval of the FCC and it needs the FCC to lift the 39% cap on the number of households one company is permitted to reach through TV station ownership.
3) Trump-appointed FCC chair Brendan Carr in May suggested his mind was open to repealing "arcane, artificial limits on how many TV stations any one company can own."
“I'm a survivor of childhood polio. In my lifetime, I've watched vaccines save millions of lives from devastating diseases across America and around the world. I will not condone the re-litigation of proven cures,…
2/ “…and neither will millions of Americans who credit their survival and quality of life to scientific miracles.
“Individuals, parents, and families have a right to push for a healthier nation and demand the best possible scientific guidance on preventing and treating illness
3/“…But a record of trafficking in dangerous conspiracy theories and eroding trust in public health institutions does not entitle Mr. Kennedy to lead these important efforts…
In response to “horrific” scenes of antisemitic harassment at and around campus, the Orthodox Rabbi at Columbia/Barnard sent a WhatsApp message to more than 290+ Jewish students this morning recommending that they go home until it’s safe again for them on campus:
2/ The rabbi for the Orthodox Union's Jewish Learning Initiative on campus sent the WhatsApp message this morning at 7:29 a.m. to his WhatsApp group of 293 mostly Orthodox Jewish students. It was his own personal statement, not that of the college or Hillel.
3/ Sent in response, he says, to "just horrific" videos of "protesters on campus calling for Jews to be killed, just off campus Jews being yelled at to 'go back to Poland', text messages I'm getting constantly from Jewish students about how unsafe they feel.”
‘Twas the night before Christmas
At Nakatomi Tower
When our story of homecoming
Begins with brute power
At Los Angeles airport, meet our savior, McClane;
With toys for his kids he disembarks from his plane.
To not see that this tale’s about Christmas is folly;
Did I mention that Mrs. McClane’s name is Holly?
“How 'bout some Christmas music?” McClane asks of Argyle.
“That *is* Christmas music,” the driver says with a smile.
Reuniting with Holly, John’s goal is shared with shy laughter;
A holiday miracle to last ever after.
In honor of my being trolled by Chinese Communist Party apparatchik/genocide defender @chenweihua, here are ten stories we've done at @TheLeadCNN about the hideous human rights abuses committed by the government he works for -- and more. (thread)
