Ohio @GovMikeDeWine is set to address President Trump having tested positive for coronavirus shortly.
Normally does not hold press conf's on Fridays but is following the diagnosis. I'll have updates, videos, etc here in this thread.
DeWine offers best wishes for the president and first lady + all others impacted by the virus. Does a quick update on the numbers (see below), and we're on to questions already.
Gov. DeWine is asked about how members of Trump's family/invitees not wearing masks in the debate hall.
Lt. Gov. Husted saying he saw "most" people wearing masks.
There have been many, many photos published that show them not wearing masks. It's been everywhere.
.@LtGovHusted is asked a direct follow up about there having been photos of Trump debate invitees not wearing masks there. He returns again to having just seen 1 or 2.
This is just spin today
When it comes to businesses, schools & sports: @GovMikeDeWine believes a mandate is necessary.
When it comes to political events, Trump rallies, the GOP-led Statehouse: DeWine thinks publicly urging is enough.
They aren't wearing them. They. aren't. wearing. them. Full stop.
Here's more of @GovMikeDeWine reacting to the president's diagnosis. Says of the virus, "it does not discriminate. It's going to go after anybody."
Gov. DeWine was asked about potential for mandating masks @ Statehouse
Said it's a different branch of gov't & can't/doesn't want to go there
I cannot tell you how many legislators continue to repeatedly campaign, work & socialize without masks. Indoor, outdoor, doesn't matter
