we need the experts like @EpiEllie and @nataliexdean to weigh in, but let's not lose sight of a few things:
1. there's a certain randomness to COVID spread along with clear "don't ever do this" things, meaning you can get away with stuff but not forever.
You can do the same thing three days in a row and it's the third time that spreads. On that day, someone was infectious, or they laughed, or the wind was wrong or... But that doesn't mean the things you did and got away with were safe.
2. we need CDC level contract tracing right now. This is needed both for the WH and the Senate, which may be different spreader events (Rose Garden and Senate lunch, e.g. though we don't know yet). It needs to include Hope Hicks and Ronna McDaniel.
3. It's insane to just keep doing what they re doing without any changes or interventions until there are some solid answers.
4. we need truth and transparency, just as we have since the beginning, from medical experts not politicians /end

Election takeaway:
"Voters in key races rejected that Republican position,"
whatever it was, as too extreme.

No sugar coating it, they got trounced for their extremism

Republicans are floundering, trying to settle on an issue that revs up their base like Roe/Dobbs does for Democrats.

• Title 42 reversal is a bust so far with video on the networks documenting a drop in numbers (the issue is a serious one, the politics are politics of fear).
• The Hunter Budin/Weaponizing committees are a bust, with the overhyped leaked documents leading nowhere except Q style conspiracies: "my best sources are disappeared!"

• The Republican-initiated debt ceiling crisis? They never read The Ransom of Red Chief, I guess.
Mind you, all of them are serious issue at their core, but none of the GOP efforts are at all based on serious analysis and solutions. Not in the least.

And that's what is the remarkable take away from all of this. Even with a House majority, there is no serious effort to govern

“I think that the New York case is much stronger than people perceive it to be,” [John] Dean told me yesterday. “We really don’t know the contents of the indictment, and we really won’t know for a much longer time the evidence behind the indictment.” @RonBrownstein
it is so refreshing reading grownups doing analysis

Local paper suggests focus on crime was misplaced and might have backfired

Our local GOP ran awful ads trying to make the case, eg that Dick Blumenthal was trying to kill your kids with fentanyl - awful in production value as well as content

Whatever you think of Biden, history will recognize both the historic midterm win and the political instincts he brings to the table many take for granted.  How many politicians stay quiet when they need to stay quiet? Hint: it’s not about them if they are not running.
We'll see what happens in the House, but I'm still waiting for the "we were wrong about the Red wave and we were snookered by Republican operatives" stories to pile up.

N.B. don't make the mistake of judging how Trump is faring based on how MAGA sees it

They are neither the courts, the majority nor the real world.

Don't get sucked in to their delusions.
